Babe Laufenberg, Dallas Cowboys radio color analyst and former NFL quarterback, sat down with Fox 4's Mike Doocy to discuss Tony Romo's impending departure from Dallas. Here are some highlights:

On what Tony Romo's legacy deserves to be

Laufenberg: Like anything, I think you have to put a little time between the departure and when we start truly writing his legacy. It's why they wait five years for Hall of Fame guys. You put a little time between their careers and when we're going to vote for them. But in my mind, Tony was a great quarterback. Not a good quarterback. Not a very good quarterback. He was a great quarterback.

He did not have great people around him for the majority of his career. They were good in spots, and you can criticize his playoff performances or what have you, but I never looked at one and thought, 'wow, Tony Romo cost them that game.' I know the bobble in Seattle, but that was his first year on wasn't even a quarterbacking situation. He shouldn't have even been holding at that point.

I just think he was a very underappreciated player.

On the national perception of Tony Romo

Laufenberg: The national take on Tony Romo was 'this guy folds in the fourth quarter.' I'll never forget having a conversation with Al Michaels before a Cowboys game. I said to Al, 'he's the highest rated quarterback in the fourth quarter.' Al said, 'Oh c'mon Babe, get out of here.' And I said, 'No, he's the highest rated quarterback in the fourth quarter in NFL history.' To Al's credit, he gave me credit on his show...Anyway, I just think he was a very underappreciated as a player. He was a great quarterback.

Romo is a good QB
No player should get in the ROH of the Cowboys without having won a SB
We're not the Eagles or the bengals Etc
Amen. Two wildcard wins in 14 yrs is not even close to greatness. Roger and Tony were great. Graig Morton and Dandy Don Meredith were extraordinary... Danny was very, very Good. Tony is not in that category. He was good.

Tony Romo was a good QB and sometimes very good...but he was never great. His overall record speaks for it's self. When it comes to Tony, God bless him, there has always been a lot of revisionist history at play.

His record does speak for itself, and it says in big bold letters, "GREAT QUARTERBACK!!!"

And people's comments speak for themselves. And when someone brings up Team W/L and SBs they say, "This person talking doesn't have a clue."

 Really? You're keeping Witten and Romo out of the ROH because our owner was an idiot for 20 straight years. Romo > Aikman. Troy just happened to get lucky playing on a vastly better team in a different era of the NFL

Lol at you thinking Troy "got lucky"
I take Troy over Romo in a heart beat

Truly great players play their best when the chips are down
Romo never even took the team to a NFCCG let alone the SB

That is how QBs greatness is and should be judged

Romo is good not great
