Like most people I watched the game and thought Gibson was godawful. I saw him get bullrushed into Vaughn. I watched him use poor footwork and fall down. I watched the 3 holding calls.

The thing is I rewatched the game and started doing my routine of watching each play 2 or 3 times to see how the lines and skill position guys were doing. Thing that stood out to me was the Gibson started out at RT and for the first few series I thought he played well. He was getting to guys on the second level. Beating the rush to the edge and driving the LDE in the run game. Then he switched to LT.

That is when the wheels fell off and well we all saw it and it wasn't pretty. First thing that I noticed from the beginning this offseason is that he is awkward in his stance and not comfortable with his footwork. That is still very much the case from the left side. OTOH, on the right side he now looks comfortable in his kickslide and such.

This may be somewhat controversial but I would like for them to keep him and continue to develop him. He needs to improve his flexibility still but his strength and agility is remarkable when he is technically sound. Further, I feel like despite his struggles on the left side that he has made considerable progress on the right side.

I thought they should have moved him to RG and backup Martin.....Definately looks better on the right side. Agree...he just doesn't look like LT material. Won't be shocked to see him get cut today.....but he could a PS guy for sure.

Likely gets cut and brought back for PS but anyway I think this thread is probably going to be moved to that roster zone.

NIce. I remember him seeming to be solid this preseason until last night. I rewatched the Minny game and he was fine - but it was all at RT. That display last night at LT was embarrassing. He looked defeated after giving up a couple of plays succession

We have to keep some OL. He is in my top 8. I think he is a better RT than Weems. If we keep 9 he is a shoo-in.

They can go long at Oline at the moment - 2 QB, 4 RB/FB, 5 WR, 3 TE = 14 so 9-10 Oline could even allow for an extra skill player. Im not sure there are more than 9 Oline worth keeping currently

Starting 5, Collins + Berny gets to 7. Then Wetzel,Weems, Gibson and Patrick are the only ones left. Weems will likely make based on Gibson's LT performance last night...too much risk.

I do not want Weems or Gibson playing LT at any point. With this roster I think if Tyron goes down that either Martin or Free needs to move over. I think upsetting two positions with good players is better than allowing a glorified speed bump at one.

agree, I think Gibson projects as a guard in the pros, not a tackle and is going to be cut and placed on the practice squad..

I expect Dallas to be searching on the waiver wire, Weems is flat out terrible on the left side and barely serviceable on the right side..I think Gibson projects as a guard in the pros and will be practice squad material this year

I'm in complete agreement with you. I'm keeping Gibson on my 53. I've said for some time that if you put him on waivers you'll lose him.

The team knew he was a developmental project when they drafted him, why should that change now? Jermey Parnell got several years to develop his physical skills, Gibson should be given time too.

The problem as I see it, is that both Gibson and Weems play much better on the right side than the left. They still don't have anyone that can play the left side.

If it were my choice, I would end the idea of Collins playing any right side this year and get him some reps at left tackle, in case of emergency.

The Green pick was/is risky due to his injury history. But if he stays healthy you have to figure he is our RT of the future.

Gibson to me is good insurance if that doesnt happen. I see Free as our RT the next two years. On pure athletic ability I veiw Gibson as a player that is on par with Green, maybe even a little more so. His technique and footwork are just not there right now, where as if Green was healthy he may be able to log starts in 2015. However Gibson seemed to grow during TC/PS and given 2 years of coaching, buy the time we are ready to move on from Free I think Green is gonna have his hands full winning the job from Gibson

It's rare to see a man get bull-trucked like he was that play where he was thrown into Vaughn. He seems horrible.

yeah our swing tackle right now ain't. Not sure how good Free would be at LT with all the mileage he has on his tires.

Watched college football the past couple of days. Man, it's going downhill fast as an overcoached, no-huddle gimmick fest.

Gibson was a good college player.

The difference between college and pro now is enormous.

After watching the game, I think the Cowboys moved him to left tackle so that he would fail. It looks like they wanted to put some bad film out there so he wouldn't get claimed. I had not heard of him working at all at left tackle in practice and then they throw him out there in a game. I know it sounds ridiculous but I do wonder if that was the plan make sure he ends up on our PS.
