Absolutely did, he was top 6 on most of the boards before that injury and after that quite a few opted out on a game that doesn't matter and only makes money for the promoters and schools. They started thinking about their own future and money.

Id need to study more but right now my top QB is Wilson from BYU. I watched Lawrence several times just never have seen a reason to say he was can't miss the next Manning. I'll admit haven't seen much of Fields probably not enough to form an opinion on him. When I see Wilson I see an NFL QB who can make NFL throws.

Yep, I like him too and he makes some nice tight window throws.

Fields is inconsistent, the last thing you'd want in a QB but he will go high. I've seen the same inconsistency with Lawrence and when the pressure is on, he's not great. Doesn't mean they can't both be great but I have some doubts about both of them and haven't seen Lance play enough.

But what do I know? I had doubts about Burrow and Herbert. Burrow played on the best offense I'd even seen in college until Bama this year. He's going to CIN? These offenses with stacked talent make me wary of the QB's. Burrow was the first college QB to play on a team with the #1 ranked OL, #1 receiving corps and #1 QB on one team and a whale of a run game. Jones had his RB and WR in Heisman contention with him.

With any prospect, how much is it him or the unit he plays on? They picked Claiborne, Spears and Charleton with 1sts and they weren't even the best D players on their own teams. The same rule should apply to FA's.

Fields was also missing 3 OL a RB, and 3 WR's. Of course in the NCAA that is a lot against a quality team.

Lawrence is what Andrew Luck was 8 years ago with all the hype. He turned out to be a pro bowl QB. He wasn’t anywhere close to the GOAT or even a Hall of Famer like some thought he would be.

But if you’re drafting #1 or #256 and you’re told your guy will make multiple pro bowls, you have to pick him.

Luck was a can't miss prospect and he was pretty much that.....not many holes in his game...there was a lot of nit picking...but Indy made a mistake and didn't fix the Ol quickly enough and Luck got pounded and injuries started and derailed his career....Luck was very very good.

When it’s all said and done, Zack Wilson may end up being the best QB in this draft imo.

When evaluating QB prospects, I always ask myself..”could he get away with that pass in the NFL?”. Well, Wilson has plenty of arm strength, his ball placement on his passes is superb, and decision making is great. Yeah, he played at BYU, so level of competition is debatable.. but he also didn’t have big time receiving threats like the big programs have. This kid is for real.

I read those exact descriptions for many QBs every year in the draft and many fail......until they play, its all speculation...there aren't that many can't miss prospects at QB......ala Manning, Luck, Aikman, etc.

Only Jackson won an mvp in the NFL. No sb wins among them

I'm pretty sure Cam Newton was the NFL MVP in 2015. The year they went to the Super Bowl and lost to the Broncos.

I think Lawrence is a good QB prospect.. But like every other QB ever drafted he's going to need to go to a good situation to realize his potential. Meaning he is going to need to be paired with a good coach/OC who will devise a system that accentuates what he does well and stays away from asking him to do things he doesn't do well until he does them well enough to do them against NFL defenses. He's going to need a decent set of receivers.. A nice running game would also be nice and maybe a defense that gets him a short field once in a while. Oh it would also be nice if he had a decent line so that he doesn't get beat to hell in those first couple of years while he tries to figure things out. If he goes to JAX he will have okay receivers, a pretty good line, a pretty good running game .. Until they hire a coaching staff we won't know what kind of situation that's going to be. But there's no need to pour dirt on the kid. He's a player.. What's he not is a first ballot hall of famer before he ever takes a snap like some have made him out to be. He could be Craig Ericson or Gino Torretta for all we know.. Or JT Barrett, or Dwayne Haskins, or Marcus Mariota, or Danny Weurfful, or any number of QBs who played on loaded college squads which enabled them to look unstoppable who then found the sledding a little tougher when they weren't playing teams that were literally at a matchup advantage at every position week after week. That's why they play the games... So we can see for ourselves..

He's 6'6, quick release, can run, improvises, and makes difficult throws look easy. So easy that I guess most people don't think it's a big deal when he does it.

Could he bust? Sure.. Likely? Nope.

It was obvious that Lawrence's offensive line in their Bowl game with Ohio State put him at a woeful disadvantage vs. O.H.'s pass rush. Other than that, he's generally considered as good as most any QB before him has been. If course, whatever a QB does in college is no guarantee of pro success. As always, it remains to be seen how he might fare, once he competes within the NFL level of play. The leap from college to pro ball is just that challenging.

I understand all that, just saying I would draft JF if I were a GM picking that high

That's kinda like those USC QBs from a while back had big time WRs and O-lines and NFL RBs. One of the things I liked about Dak is what he did with lesser talent.

Not a chance.. gotta keep that hype machine rolling. I just hope for Lawrence's sake Jacksonville doesn't hire some dunce head coach who only lasts a season and a half and then starts him on a head coach/OC carousel for his career. Whoever they hire, I hope it's a good coach.. even if he's a defensive guy I want him to have stability so that the OC will stick around for at least 3-4 years while the kid gets his legs under him. Maybe we can interest them in Kellen Moore?

Some fans look at Trevor Lawrence and it sounds like he's the last franchise quarterback that will ever decalre for the draft. I'm no scout and I'm not pretending to be one, but I was never that enamored by the guy. He could have a Hall of Fame NFL career and prove me wrong or he could be the next Blake Bortles. You just never know.

Having said that, and not wanting to start a Dak debate, the Cowboys were never getting Lawrence anyway so it's a moot point. The Jaguars and Jets were never budging from the draft's top two slots.

and that was kind of the point I was going with without saying. I think the last few weeks if we did a stock up and stock down Fields has risen a bit versus Lawrence going down a bit. That said Im thinking barbie will end up a better QB
