He hasn't taken himself out of anything.

He got injured. He hasn't recovered 100% yet.
I won't say you're wrong, but I would want to see a little more evidence before going with that narrative. Who is saying he hasn't recovered 100%? Is DL saying it? What if he's really 93% and just doesn't feel like going back out there for a lost season? Why bother?

So the person who said he was too tired to give any effort against GB last year has taken himself out of a game?

Shocking.........

I don't remember seeing a team so full of quitters.
I’m never forgiving Lawrence for telling rookies not to listen to Garrett because Jerry is the real boss, regardless of how true it may have been.

Threatening to not have shoulder surgery if he didn’t get a new contract? If it were up to me he would still have a busted shoulder and Elliott would still be in Cabo but Jerry has his own grand plan and doesn’t ask me.

Mr big shot billionaire businessman somehow gets taken by every NFL agent.

He's been medically cleared to have played in the Bengals game and now quoted as saying he won't play against the Panthers either.....

Lawrence stated that "not only will he not suit up against the Bengals, but he'll miss the Cowboys Week 15 matchup with the Carolina Panthers."

Kind of sounds like he took himself out of games he was eligible to play
I mean he’s getting older and has 1 maybe 2 decent short term deals before he retires.

Hes not risking injury before he goes and gets paid.

But that right there shows me he can kick rocks and go elsewhere

Not recovered from lisfranc injury yet. Might as well sit him for the last 3 games and let someone else get the snaps. That would also ensure he doesn't reinjure his foot and make sure he is 100% next year.
Agreed.

I don’t blame a player about to hit free agency from protecting himself one bit, especially considering that the Cowboys are done this year.

Like Zack Martin, Lawrence likely doesn’t fit in with this team’s future plans.

He should do what’s right for his future.

To be fair to Lawrence, "Medically Cleared" doesn't necessarily mean someone is ready to return to the field. It only means the injury is healed enough to potentially return to the field. There are still things that would need to be evaluated to assess the player's "Physical Readiness" to get back on the field.

See my post above. Decent player, not great, but I’m not a fan of his. I do realize he didn’t give himself a 100 million dollar contract.

That all said, I wouldn’t blame him for putting about as much effort into getting back on to the field this year as Jerry did in improving the team this past offseason.

he would be medically ready if we had something to medically play for!

Lots of players in the league are medically cleared to play, but they aren't conditioned enough to play. I think Tank will be seen signing a 2 year deal on a contender next year. Probably in the AFC.

PS. If we cut him tomorrow he would probably go to the Rams or the Lions or god forbid the Eagles just in time for the playoffs.

True on Jerry. I don't think Lawrence will take a one year deal. He seems like a guy who's ego is too big to accept that he's past his prime. He'll probably get paid more than he is worth somewhere else and take the money. He's been out most of the year and I really didn't even notice he wasn't playing. Guy is good against the run but never turned into the pass rusher we expected.
I agree... he won't return. Him not playing is definitely making sure he's fully healthy for the UFA period and getting that one last above average deal if possible.

If you actually watched the game and listened to what he said instead of doing the typical angry old man yelling about everything schtick, you'd have seen Lawrence was literally the only player who showed up and played hard against GB last year. Then, the comment he made was more directed at the rest of the team than about himself. I still think it was a shot at his teammates for not showing up. It wasn't a good choice of words regardless, but effort has never been an issue with Tank.

The number of posters on this board who genuinely seem to believe that 90% of our players quit once they get paid is simply astonishing. These are professional athletes who have developed a work ethic to get max NFL contracts. That drive doesn't magically disappear once they get paid. Sure, there are players here and there who that is applicable to, but this board seems to genuinely believe it's almost every player Jerry pays. I get it. We are all sick of losing and have a lot of misplaced anger.

He's a free agent next offseason so he's probably making a business decision. He knows we're cooked.

Doubt DLaw has much interest risking his body playing out the season with the team out of the playoff picture.

I can understand him not going back out there for a lost season. But he is a FA after this year and wants paid. I'd think he would want to prove he can still play and play at a high level before the end of the season.

Lawrence would be a fool to step on the field this year. He knows he won't be in Dallas in 2025 and he needs to pass a physical for his next team.
