That cost me the championship in my fantasy team that year. I believe he went for it on 4th down to get more points late in the 4th, instead of kicking the FG. I had the NE kicker and lost by less than a point.

It was quite clear what they were trying to do. They had 58 and 68 go to the ref and one of them would report. Of course they know it has to be announced but 68 sounds like 58. On top of that, they had 70 run in who usually reports but didn't this time. From their original alignment and then their shift, I think all 3 of them were in eligible pass catching positions at one time or another. They thought they could catch the Cowboys napping since we have a history of gaffes in big moments. To boot, they said they cleared this with the refs before the game.

After all this, the NFL released a video on the rule and if you believe what the Lions say, the NFL didn't follow their own rules on reporting. The head ref avoided a question about 58 and 68 approaching him and what was said. Then this ref and crew were "disinvited" to the playoffs rotation afterwards. Those spoke volumes to me. Still, if anyone on the sidelines heard the wrong number announced, they should have pulled the plug but the refs DID mess that whole thing up and we never know if the Cowboys would have fallen for the okie doke.

Yeah, I think it's fair to say that the official messed it up because of all the nuances Detroit was trying to use, sending multiple players to the official, then having 70 come into the game and making a signal with his hands. None of what the Lions did was illegal. But once the wrong number was announced, it was on Detroit because the officials could not let the play stand when the number that was not announced caught the ball.

Detroit can rightly blame the official for not getting right what had been discussed earlier, but is wrong to blame the official for calling a penalty because they heard what number was announced. Of course, it all probably would have been moot if the officials hadn't botched the tripping call on Dallas' possession. But no Lions player or fan wants to bring that up.

One beatdown doesn’t make up for decades of mediocrity and suckitude Detroit lol… they dunked on us when we are basically handicapped and in a wheelchair because we are run by an egomaniac owner, a lame duck coach, an under-achieving and overpaid QB, and an injured and weak roster.

I will enjoy watching them lose steam and choke in the playoffs. What goes around comes around. They will once again finish the year in tears as they have done for decades

i think it really sucks what happened to hutch, but the irony isn't lost on me of all the chest beating, and dunking on, while crying for sympaty at the same time. shrug. guess "act like you been here before" doesn't apply, so learn on the job.

Good, I loved it! The Boys had no answers for all the trick plays the Lions called, it was downright embarrassing!!!!!!!!!!!! Coaches should have been fired immediately after that game and players should have been released. But no everything is status quo heading into the 9er game, where the 9ers look to right their ship against a candy *** team called America's Team, better known as the Cowboys! I hope I hear Brady's high pitched voice calling out everything bad about the Boys. He can help speak the word that America's team is no more and it's time to lower the $$$$$$$$$ value of this bottom feeder organization, not worth 2 cents anymore!

The most telling part of the game was when Detroit let it be known they weren't going to drop back defensively and allow a few "run out the clock" meaningless scores, Dallas pulled their star QB. No Stat padding drives to confuse the window lickers into thinking it was "almost" a comeback.
