In other words, they circled this game before the season started. Careful, Campbell. You may be on top of the pole now, but don't get arrogant because things can change pretty quickly. That's what I always admired about Landry, Nolls, Walsh, Parcell, Belichick, and a couple of other great ones. No matter how good they were or how much they were winning, they always showed gamesmanship and never tried to embarrass their opponent. Yes, I know the old cliche, win the game if you don't wanna get embarrassed but still....
They aren't the only team that circles a game. It happens a lot. I don't think the Lions are afraid of the Cowboy's marking a future game with them. The Cowboys don't scare anyone.

You must have forgotten the 16-0 year. Belichick was purposely running the score up every chance he got. That it why it was cosmic justice for the Giants to spoil it for them.

Lol. Its ok to criticize a crap product. Doesn’t make us less of a fan. And who are you to decide who should be a fan? Get over yourself
Nothing wrong with a critic here or there, but to say one wishes this team loses out to teach Jerry a lesson, etc and how one prefers to favor the lions, well, shut it and simply go follow the lions. End of discussion.

It's funny that they took it out against the Cowboys and not the referees that made the call. THe ending was pretty bush league and I wish they would have lost another player long term. However, I have no problems if they go on and win a SB....I like how they have built the team.

What people don't seem to understand is that regardless of whether Decker REPORTED or not, he lined up in an INELIGIBLE position. Watch the play. As they lined up, Decker is covered up at the LOS by the WR Josh Reynolds with David Montgomery in the slot. As the team shifted, neither Decker nor Reynolds moved (Montgomery moved to RB), thus Decker is STILL COVERED UP at the LOS by Reynolds. This means that Decker is in an INELIGIBLE position.

So, if he does NOT report and goes out into a pattern, that is a penalty.
If he reports and lines up the way that he did, THAT is an illegal formation penalty.

OK, playing Devil's Advocate here, there are a few possibilities since NO ONE is saying that Sewell reported. He was just a screen.

1. Decker ONLY reported as eligible. Result? Illegal formation because Decker lined up ineligible due to WR Josh Reynolds COVERING HIM UP at the LOS.
2. Decker AND Skipper reported. Result? Illegal formation as Skipper and Decker both ended up on the LOS with Sewell COVERING UP Skipper and WR Josh Reynolds COVERING UP Decker.
3. ONLY Skipper reports. Result? One of three penalties: Illegal touching by a lineman (called) on Decker; Ineligible man downfield also on Decker; Illegal Formation as Sewell, who was ineligible, was COVERING UP Skipper at the LOS. In certain videos of the broadcast, you can hear this discussion that there were multiple penalties on the play.

Either way, there was a penalty on Detroit for that play. This is NOT controversial.
Why don't people understand this?

...three titles with JImmy Johnson built team...Switzer was HC for the last one, but Aikman led the team while Switzer and Jones took credit" we dit it!,we did it!!"...little bit of a slump?..29 years and counting is a "little bit" of a slump all right.

The Lions were cheated last year because the old fart ref got confused. The beat down the Cowboys got this year was well deserved and meant to make a statement that the Lions are the better team. It's sickening how these Cowboy fans talk SB every year and how they compare Dak to Mahomes. Jerry Jones is doing a helluva job marketing this garbage.
Nope.

The Lions "trick play" was to deliberately confuse the refs into communicating eligibility incorrectly to the Cowboys.

It's one thing to use deception on the field during a live play. That's not what they did. They tried to abuse an administrative procedure. That's just cheating and they got caught.

Who cares if they circled this game? The time to get revenge would have been last year in the playoffs, but things didn't play out that way. Winning this year means nothing. It's akin to the 49ers beating the Chiefs this year in revenge of their SB loss. Who cares? But it didn't play out that way anyway.

They didn't though unless you think multiple people went over to talk to the refs and none of them bothered to mention the thing that multiple sources have said that they said, and would be the only reason to go over to the refs.
Bullcrap. The refs announced to the defense who the eligible receiver was and that was who we covered. If they would have told us who the lions wanted we would have covered him. They are not the victims.

Bellichek was a cheating awesome person.

I'm sure most teams would rather have an opposing coach want revenge for getting screwed the prior year, than an opposing coach that would steal their signals, tamper with footballs, and circumvent the salary cap under the guise of a bogus charity.

P.s. I think ur forgetting that NO team in the NFL likes beating down a weak opponent and laughing it up on the sidelines like the Cowboys. Look what we've done to other defenseless teams over the last few years. Blowout City.

The only difference now, is that WE are the defenslesless weak team other teams like pounding into the turf.

You nailed it! All those 50 points games against the Commanders and Giants are coming full circle.

Not true, bro. The guy they threw to was an eligible receiver if the refs correctly announced him as eligible. The refs messed it up. The Lions met with them before the game and the refs apparently forgot in the moment. The okie doke meant for the Cowboys snared the refs instead.

That wasn't the point of the ruse.
