Him losing out to Collins doesn't mean he isn't a good player. Collins has the higher ceiling and physical talents.

Short term memory...

Leary was playing average last year, that's why he lost his job. Collins came in and played at his level immediately. With the help needed on defense, we don't have the luxury to be holding valuable players on the bench. He should have been traded by now.

Disagreed with how DAL handled him all off-season.
Hard-line stance is not benefiting team.
Should have tagged him at a low level and let him go or traded him for cheap.

When he leaves in FA he'll bring a 5th or 6th in return in 2018.
Could have gotten that easily in the off-season.
It's rather dumb by Dallas IMHO.
If he is forced to play now he'll be rusty and untrustworthy.
What do we gain exactly?
They gave him a 2nd tender for 2.5m.......more money than he has made his whole career...real disgraceful..............sheeesh

BTW, if Leary was a guy making 5m a year I'd have far less sympathy for him but he's making peanuts by NFL standards and was routinely given bonus pay for outperforming his min salary contract.
DAL essentially gave him a pay cut by handing his job to Collins.
Someone has to play RT long-term and Martin/Collins were good potential choices.

To me this hand been bungled badly.

He doesn't even dress but he is an AllPro????
look man these people have families to take care of. idk what is so controversial about feeling sorry for a guy who's not allowed to play in his contract year. these guys get one opportunity to get a big contract in this league. i'm not saying he's an all-pro, but he could start for a majority of the teams in this league which means he has the potential to make 15-25M on the market.

He was a RFA....he got what everyone gets.....its not personal....no team made an inquiry at 2.5m and a 2nd

Are you trolling?

Where did I say he was AllPro?

He was average (2015) cause he was injured. He had back pains in preseason and then pulled his groin in week 1. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2566644-ron-leary-injury-updates-on-cowboys-ogs-groin-and-return

He tried to rush back, to not lose his job for good, and wasn't healthy.

Maybe we're putting Collins on display to trade him and put Leary back in the starting lineup. I haven't seen remarkable improvement in the O-line since Collins took over. The truth is, it was 3 guys that made this O-line special. Smith kicked off the rebuilding phase, Frederick came in and turned us from bad to good, and Martin came in and turned us from good to great. Those 3 guys are the best players on our team. Collins has all the physical tools but didn't look as special as the other 3 when they entered the league. The minute those 3 guys entered the league, you knew they were something special. If a team is willing to give up a high pick or a starting caliber D-line for Collins, then I put Leary back in the starting lineup.

Then what was his issue in preseason? Injured again? Not helping the case here. Not only was he playing average, he was also injured and playing poorly in preseason. Yet, people want to move the best guard in football to tackle (We're still talking about this?) to put in a player who lacks enthusiasm, played declined in 2015, injured, and lost out to a rookie.

Okay then, well maybe you can do that in Madden. Have fun.

disgraceful? No.
stupid? Yes.

They forced any trade to be a 2nd round deal which meant he was very likely staying on our sidelines all year and making 2.5 mil.
Wastes our cap and has him remain disgruntled and mightily underpaid.

He wants zero to do with the franchise and never be counted on to play for us again.
So we eat his cap hit in hope some team trades for a guy that that isn't even practicing.

Stupid..., as I told you it would be in the off-season.

Leary is a 4-5M per year guy who would get at least 10m in signing bonus in free agency. He's got a limited shelf life and guaranteed money that could provide for his family for the rest of his life is at stake. But boy I am sure none of us would be bothered at all by that....

He was never really a very good OG. He was quality, but in a Kyle Koiser kinda way. Was never close to being a Pro Bowl level player

The pass protection obviously improved from 2014 to 2015. I'd say the pass protection is on par this year, the run blocking is so-so. Apparently, it's up for debate if it's the stacked boxes and usually changes by who you ask (Usually between Zeke fanboys and haters)
