It was already said that Kidd will take a diminished roll (read minutes) next year due to his age. It was also expect that Kidd will also move to shooting guard position at times allowing the young guys (Jones and Beaubois) to gain experience at the point.

A shooting guard that can't shoot... Great.

And I see a big difference between Roddy getting *some* minutes to learn the position and Chris Paul, maybe the best PG in the game who needs to run the show full time.

Personally, I think the absolute best thing he could do for himself is to go to the Knicks. He will get less money from the team contract, but make a lot more in NY than he will ever make in Cleveland with endorsements. Easily eclipsing the $30M in contract money.

What endorsements? He's already got a Nike basketball camp, his own shoe line, his own clothing line, McDonalds endorsements, Sprite, Glaceau (Vitamin Water), State Farm, Upper Deck, and Bubbilicious. I don't think Vito's Pizzeria will add too much to his wealth.

Please don't tell me you're trying to compare what New York can do for Lebron endorsment wise vs freaking Cleveland?!?!?

Hell, even Forbes has a blog post about it.

Say it with me: He is LeBron James.

He does not need New York to be successful. He's already got everything that he needs - exposure in the Olympics and a global deal with Nike. It doesn't get much more global than adding McDonalds to your résumé too.

LeBron James would make millions if he played for the Oakland Raiders. He's LeBron.

You're kidding yourself if you think he's going to play for the Knicks now too, with Mike D'Antoni as the coach. After all that time LeBron spent working on his defense, he's not going to play for a coach that's allergic to 1/2 of the game itself.

If Paul came to the Mavs, Kidd would never play the point again.

Speaking of Kidd. Anyone know the structure of his three year deal? Front loaded, all years guaranteed? I know he has to be tradable since there are only two no-trade clauses in existence in the NBA. (well, soon to be two when Dirk signs)

If you think he can't make more endorsement money in NY, you're a damn fool. btw, I never said he was going to NY, I just said if it were only about money; it's the best place.

So prove that I'm a "damn fool." Explain how with two of the most global sports endorsement companies in Nike and McDonalds already wrapped up, how he will make more endorsement money. I hope you do it well because discussing these sorts of things isn't something I just do for fun.

The only other big companies would be a car company and maybe Gatorade or Powerade, neither of which he needs to be in New York for.

He is only a basketball player, and nobody would want to endorse him when the Knicks would almost assuredly be trash.

Oh I don't know, how about the sheer size of the New York fan based. How about the enormous amounts of business capital in the New York city market. Every local business will be clamoring to throw money at him. Comparably Cleveland is a podunk town with podunk money to offer. If you think Nike, Gatorade, and McDonalds are the only ways to make money endorsement wise, you are sadly mistaken. There are two grand stages in the NBA. The Staples Center and Madison Square Garden. When it comes to arenas though, nothing is bigger than MSG.

Forbes (a magazine that defines wealth) even told so and you still don't believe it makes a difference? If you can't understand why, then I don't know what else to say. IMO, it's common sense.

He got three years, all guaranteed. Initial talk was for the third to be a team option, but Kidd had Cuban over a barrel,so of course he got what he wanted.

I can't believe this guy is under contract until he's 40. :banghead:

Forbes is only reporting about a study that the Knicks had commissioned (from someone named "InterBrand") to try to sway LeBron into coming to New York. Not exactly an unbiased study. And it wasn't done by Forbes.

Lebron James is the epitomy of what is wrong with sports figures today. Thats sickening. A special on ESPN? The guy has not won anything. Wow. I cannot stand these primadonnas like him. Wade is making a film out of it all. Bosh also is making himself look silly. I hope Lequeen never ever smells a ring. He reminds me of TO.

I love how he said "All teams have to come to me" too. He makes a twitter account and calls himself "KingJames"? If someone else calls you "King" is one thing, but to call yourself that is another.

This guy literally believes he is the best to ever play the game. Talent and physically, he very well could be. Ego and lack of effort are going to make him a FAIL when compared to Kobe and Jordan.

I will not refer to him as King James, but Epic Fail James as that is what his career is heading towards.

Lebron is lame if he signs back with the Cavs now.

Just shows he had no intent on leaving.
