Troy has always been a no-nonsense competitor, holding himself and those around him to a high standard. For a number of reasons, there is a very different culture surrounding the Dallas Cowboys, and the NFL in general, since Aikman played for Jimmy Johnson thirty years ago.

Troy holds back on the criticism if anything. I wish he'd just rip people and tell it like it is sometimes.

Every time aikman announces for one of our games, I laugh uncontrollably.

The man hates Dallas so much, yet he was our guy in the 90’s.

I mean seriously, every time Dallas got a first down or made a good play I would hear, “that was nice, but…” or “and you see here, I mean it was a great throw but the timing was awful”

Kind of a laughing stock if you ask me. Stephen A Smith likes us more than Aikman! I understand him being less than happy about how it all ended with Johnson, and their downfall etc, but come on.

What do you think his issue is?
He called it like he sees it. Was he wrong? Not to worry there’s some here who say he was a JAG. It’s actually kind of funny when he praises Dallas he’s indisputable when he’s criticizing he’s a bum.

The issue lies with you, not Aikman......He calls it the way he sees it, and there's plenty to complain about watching this offense.....He's a three time Superbowl champion and MVP, Hall of Famer and a Cowboys Ring of Honor inductee, I think he knows more of what's going on during a game than you or I. If you want to listen to a bleeding heart Cowboy fan, then listen to Michael Irvin, who I find insufferable with his love affair.
Well said…

Honestly I love Aikman. He isn't a homer or a hater. He just sees football. Honestly both QBs and offenses looked inept at times last night. It was ugly. He criticized Herbert missing Allen for 2 TDs and Dak for not seeing the field

In his early days of broadcasting, just like anyone trying to be professional, he would attempt to distance himself from any appearance of bias for his former team by being a little over critical of them……he just seems to be comfortable in extending that infinitely.

So when he said things like, that was a great throw. He put that in there. The ball arrived at the only spot it could to make that completion.

Did your TV have momentary sound problems? Did the little woman call you into the kitchen to get something off the top shelf? Did you need to let the dog out before there was an emergency?

Your assessment of Aikman's feeling about this team and franchise, calling it a laughing stock, may have been the funniest aspect of all. Especially since Troy played for Jerry long after Jimmy left.

I think he calls 'em as he sees 'em.

Aikman is fine. I think fans don't like him because he used to go out of his way not to sound like a homer, and came off sounding like a hater.
But he cleaned that up over the years.
Another thing he gives his honest opinion. And when he first started announcing he was correct while Dallas was not all that good. And fans took offense to it.

When he is on The Ticket on his weekly show, he his honest but comes across much more favorable.

Last night pre-game he was standing up for Dak for the most part.
Heck even late in the game, and the post game. Joe Buck had some very good things to say about Dallas. That was a shock to me.

There have been and still are many announcers that don't care about showing hate or being a homer about certain teams. Randy Cross an ex SF player, when he announced had such a hate for Dallas and it showed and he did not care. Todd Christiansen the same thing. Not because he was on a rival team, but because the Cowboys cut him in TC.

I think Troy was just pointing out 2 sides of a view point and opinion on the plays. As we all have different views and opinions as well.

Some say a players did great, others have reason he did not, he was lucky, or had help or whatever.

but I think he's was getting at MMs offense last night.
If anything, he was so annoyed at ALL the issues with the Cowboys he could barely control himself. It's obvious to me that he would love to see them successful and it kills him to have to sit there & be professional commentator when he wants to rip them a new one.

If you’re expecting him to be a cheerleader for the team like Irvin, then you’ve got the wrong guy.

He’s a pro. Nothing more and nothing less.
