Not necessarily, I am more a fan of this forum than I am of this team. If this didn't exist, I am not sure I would even be a fan any longer.

And my declining fanhood has nothing to do with the team's record. They've never had to win to keep me. It's all the ancillary crap around the team that has disconnected with me. The suspensions, actually taking risks on high risk players with low character and the flaunting in the face of the fans that he owns it and will run it the way he wants but really loves the fans. What a totally phony awesome person.

But the breaking point for me and the reason for my borderline ambivalence came down to 2016. I was neither a Romorooter or lover but the man sacrificed body parts and had to be restrained from going back into games. He not only didn't get the necessary help up front that he needed but the idiotic owner commented about him being the only one that could played behind the 5 Matadors. They knew they were putting him at risk.

All the man wanted was the chance to compete for his old job with a better OL and RB than he'd ever had. Not be given the job back but just be allowed to compete for it. They denied him because they knew he would have won it back and they wouldn't have this cool new dynamic duo to sell to the media. It is not a football team, it is a reality show with a really ugly awesome person of a host.

I'm more a fan in the line of waiting around for the ship to be righted. Don't think I could leave, even if I wanted to.

January 17, 1971... Dallas and the real Baltimore Colts, with Unitas at the helm... my 1st ever cowboy game, and I've been a fan ever since. This has little to do with fawning over a team that hasn't produced a single NFC championship, much less a SB in the last 23 + years, and more about real fans who grew up with the cowboy stigma and winning team under a different owner who wasn't a scotch drunk egomaniac calling plays from his palace skybox, running the draft from the local pub and hiring brain fart HC's to prove HE is the man.

Anybody who has been here for years posting on this board is a true fan. This team has been mediocre for over 2 decades. Jerry is possibly doubling down on his mediocrity. Its very possible to be a fan of this time and to not support football insanity. Imagine Garrett getting extended another 5 years and richard leaving

In the words of one of the dudes in Brokeback Mountain, “I just can’t quit you.” Seriously, I’ve tried to quit following the Cowboys and even had season tix for the Seahawks for a few years (still rooted for Da Boys whenever they’d play in Seattle) but I’ve been a fan since I was 9. I’m 51 now so I don’t think I could change loyalties no matter how hard I tried.

Why do I feel like I am slowly dying with this team?

No matter what year you want to point to as why you are a fan..

they came up very short.

For me..

It's a situation of diminishing returns anymore.

I wear team jerseys on GameDay and there are times another fan is doing the same thing.

I will mention the team and they will shut up and mutter something and keep going or whatever.

Never used to be that way.

People would recite their loyalty and who was their favorite player.

Not now.
