Let's just get this out of the way

This one game against the Giants has nothing to do with the "Broader Perspective". whatsoever

The "Broader Perspective" or "someone's entire resume" is something to be taken into account when evaluating whether Wade Phillips deserves to keep his job or if he has the ability to lead this team to the promise land.
Odd. A few weeks ago "broader perspective" was the losses to the Ravens and Eagles to end 2008, now it's Wade Phillips resume.

That broad has some kind of weird perspective for sure.

I don't understand the "Giants will be playing desperate" excuse for this game. Isn't everyone playing for their season in the playoffs? It shouldn't matter.

With that said, I'll take 2-3 in December as long as they're at least 1-1 in January. They really need to end that streak so that future teams don't have it hanging over their head. I really do believe that streaks like that effect players psychologically even if they don't admit it.

1-4 (or any record that causes them to miss the playoffs) would be the only December outcome that I'd consider disasterous.

They could finish 5-0, and if they're one and done in the playoffs I'll still be ticked.

If we lose to the Giants Sunday:
1. It doesn't mean we are frauds.
2. It doesn't automatically mean we will have a below .500 record in December
3. It doesn't mean we won't go to the Playoffs

Wrong. It means our players hate their mothers and are heartless. It means our coaches have the IQs of fleas. It means the world is ending and we should all just die.

:lmao2: Nice try, Maikeru-sama, but 2/3 of the fans on this board are hopeless and will over-react to every game. They feel entitled to win every week and insult any player if he doesn't dominate every down.

Odd. I didn't know 9/23/2009, which is when I made the "Broader Perspective comment" was "a few weeks ago".

There are a lot of valid points made in your argument.

For myself, I am looking at things from a "broader perspective".

I believe the mistakes that occurred on Sunday Night were indicative of a "larger" problem with this team that fans have seen quite a bit under Wade Phillips' tenure (Bill Parcells as well).

I don't think Wade Phillips inspires players and he has never proven that he can take a Football Team to the next level. Jerry Jones definately doesn't appeared to be inspired by Wade Phillips, or he wouldn't allow Wade Phillips to go into this season as a lame duck.

Under Bill Parcells, we started going to the Playoffs, which was an accomplishment given the talent level we had.

Wade Phillips' job was to take the team to the next level, and many felt the way this would be done was to take the 3-4 Defense to the next level.

Again, you have opposing players state that the Cowboys defenders look confused (one of those who made that claim is our backup QB) and constantly yell at each other. Kevin Burnett confirmed this last year.

The "Broader Perspective" is that this team lacks leadership, accountability (Terence Newman confirmed this on ESPN First Take) and "mental toughness".

The season isn't over but I can't help but take a sarcastic approach to the season when I have seen some of the nonesense we saw Sunday quite a bit.

My entire premise about the "Broader Perspective" has always been about Wade Phillips and his ability to take us to the next level.

I am not ashamed of those comments and Wade Phillips hasn't proven that he can take us to the next level or even a Playoff win.

But keep following me around throwing "Broader Perspective" in my face. I haven't had too much time to post much, so it won't bother me too much.

Yes, I understand Dallas is I believe 1-3 against teams with a winning record (at least that is what was being said on the radio after we beat the Raiders on).

All I'm saying is people are setting themselves up for failures if they think the Giants aren't capable of beating us, or the Saints, or the Vikings or anyone else in the NFL when playing at home with their backs against the wall.

If we get swept by the Giants, it doesn't mean we don't deserve to make the Playoffs.

Dallas has 2 wins against teams over .500

THE SAME AS THE MIGHTY SAINTS!!!!

But of course we are pretenders and they are juggarnaunts.

Nice try, but that thread isn't where "broader perspective" was originally brought up. This is after that thread. As proof I can offer you three things to consider. You have the quotation marks on the words, the thread is only 3 pages long, and I did not post in that thread. If you recall, I was quite busy in the original thread. The point of that original thread was exactly what I portrayed it to be.

If this was your later take on "broader perspective" it should be quite clear to you from my lack of response here that I had no issue with this.

To my recollection, you also were not the originator of the "broader perspective" comments that I was poking fun at, so I don't feel I am throwing it in your face. Quite the contrary I felt you would enjoy the joke.

Oh, and to me a few is anywhere from 3 to 11. After that it's a dozen or more.

I think the Saints game is going to be closer then people think.

One of my co-workers who is a Tennessee fan says the Saints will be blowing us out by half-time.

I think this week is the most important game of the season.

No, it's not!

That is this most ignorant comment I have heard today, and I live in Farmers Branch!

Losing this game would really suck. Giants have been exposed as frauds since we last played them. Their secondary is depleted and is there for the taking. Plus it will keep NY in the playoff race and they will have the tiebreaker against us. They would be 7-5 and us at 8-4. And with our tough schedule looming, we don't need to be dealing with 2 other East teams. Eliminate them on Sunday and have it be a 2 horse race with the Eagles, whom we have the tiebreaker over at the moment.

I fully expect Dallas to thoroughly pummel the Giants this week. And anything less is a precursor to another December fade job.

They must and WILL thrash the G-men in their own crib.

If we lose this game, the Giants will have swept us for the year and would have tiebreak over us. Considering we still have the Chargers and Saints on deck, we could very easily lose the division with a loss this week.

Consider also that Matt Ryan is not playing for the Falcons and I dont have alot of confidence in Chris Redman to beat the Eagles, so if we lose we probably drop back into a tie with the Eagles for 1st.

So being tied with the Eagles and having only a 1 game lead on the Giants ,who would have tiebreak on us, is a very difficult spot to be in with the Chargers and Saints coming up.

We must win this game Sunday!!!!!

I love these threads that attempt to mentally prepare us with a list of apologetics in the event of a loss.

Bottom line, we have the chance to drive the nail in the coffin of a hated rival in front of their fans. If we are up to that challenge, then we are probably ready for greater challenges ahead. If not.....well.......it's hard to come out with a positive feeling about the team and their chances.

Pretty much nailed it.

So you say we are going 0-5 in December? Let's put a huge bet on it. Name the stakes.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, you are 3-8 on the season.

I have a wager going in another thread that we will win 3 of the 5 remaining games. We bet our sig or avatar till the end of the season.

The heel is 3-8. Good to know. Glad someone is tracking it. Did he pick us to lose every week? Is that where his 3 "wins" came from?

Totally agree.

We have the chance to pull the plug on the Giants season and virtually assure us a spot in the playoffs and possibly the division title. If we fail to get it done here, then we fall back to the pack and have San Diego, N.O. and the Eagles in the last 4 weeks. The odds of finally finishing above .500 after Nov. would be slim and would be any hopes of winning the division, unless the Giants and Eagles just crumble the rest of the way too.

You know the Cowboys have psychologically done a number on their fans when people start making excuses for future losses immediately following a win.
