Slot WRs and TEs are always going to have a higher catch rate then outside WRs.

They generally are catching shorter passes and have more field with two way gos so they are going to get more separation.

"Magic stats?"

I suppose we should also ignore a quarterback's completion percentage when evaluating quarterbacks...or a running back's average per carry.

Hey, how about we evaluate a business and ignore it's sales results. We don't need to bring "magic stats" into the discussion.

I don't think its fair to judge Dez on his 2015 season. As I said in the OP give he and Dak more time together and he'll impress again.
This team is chalk full of guys who didn't play well in 2015.

I'm sorry as I have gotten older the memory is not as good, Dez needs to go out and refresh my memory of what he can do. :)

Out of 78 receivers this year that have enough activity to even be ranked...Dez ranks 73rd in Catch Rate.

Think that just reflects a small sample size? OK...in 2015 Dez was out of 83rd out of 87 qualifying wide-outs.

If you want an incompletion...Dez is playing at quite a level!

The guy just doesn't get sufficiently open folks.

Look...Dez can make some plays but he's NOT a consistently good target for anything other than a quarterback with elite precision and savy like Romo.

Your whole argument is smoke and mirrors......his numbers are elite when healthy

90 catches 1300 yds and 14 TDs

When Norman wasn't covering him.
He covered him twice and held him twice in the 1st half and then was burnt like the rest in the 2nd half

Does that make you feel good complimenting a Commander.......what a traitor

Yup.

Some of us want a guy who is good every week.

I'm not saying bench Dez. He's like a home-run hitter, IMO. You want that kind of player on your team. But Dez is wildly over-rated.

And let's keep it real: If anything the offense played better in his absence.

I'm just providing the facts he didn't do very well with Norman on him. Washington got criticized for not keeping Norman on Dez.

Correlation doesn't imply causation.

Unless you think losing Bryant all of a sudden allowed us to run the ball efficiently.

The offense played better once the run game was the bread and butter of the offense.
Week 1 and two Zeke and Morris didn't look that hot overall.
Week 3 onwards Zeke is on his way to breaking records.

Dak has looked good passing the ball in every game sans the second half of the Giants game. The one where the offense was placed on him after the run game was going nowhere.

Go back a few pages.

My argument from the top was that Dez's game is special in certain respects (size, strength, hops) but that for big production he needs a quarterback with elite precision...and a quarterback who isn't afraid of risk. Did such a quarterback lead the offense in 2014?

I can see Dak utilizing Dez around the end zone...or perhaps on some plays on the sidelines where risk can be mitigated. 3rd and 20? Dez becomes a real good idea. Hail Mary? The same.

I just don't see Dak as a risk-taker who wants to repeatedly throw into traffic...and that attribute of his is starting to grow on me.

Dez became overrated the moment he signed his second contract.. That's just how it works.

When a guy is ascending, he's awesome. Pay him like he's an elite player and he's overrated. Happens time and time again.

These discussions always amuse me..

I was very deliberate in saying
"If anything" the offense played better. It's too small a sample size to prove anything. But it was interesting, no?

I'm not suggesting we dump Dez! And I hope he comes back with a fever and show us doubters wrong on Sunday.

Anyway...I don't like getting on the side of a debate where I'm being critical of one of our boys. Dez can be electric and he can be heroic and he can make massive plays. There's always a point in the game where all eyes like to 88 and pray he can do what few others but Dez can do.

I'm going to bow out here. I've made my point.

this suggest there is causation between the offense playing better, and Dez being out hurt...not the fact that Zeke has been averaging 150ypgsince dez has been out, not the fact Dak has been more comfortable in the pocket, not the fact our secondary has been ranked among the best the last few weeks, not the forced turnovers..but because we are missing our best WR/offensive threat. smh

using this logic, the Pats were better without Gronk and should trade him LOL

When Norman wasn't covering him but Beasley, Witten and Swaim all had longer receptions than he did.
why does this matter? you keep posting this as if it means something, Dez cant control who defends him. Antonio Brown torched Washington week 1 and wasnt being covered by Norman, doesnt make the performance any less meaningful
