Dez got paid a lot of money based on his 5 year performance that made him as one of the elite receivers in the game after the 2014 season. Contract extensions aren't just a reward for what a player has done, they're for what the team is hoping the player will continue to do. His numbers have declined since he signed the contract due mainly to injuries and some of the decline could be due to a lack of motivation after being paid. He did admit he didn't work hard enough entering the 2015 season, so he wasn't putting all the blame for that season on his foot injury. With big contracts come big expectations and so far he hasn't lived up to them.

I just don't see Dak as a risk-taker who wants to repeatedly throw into traffic...and that attribute of his is starting to grow on me.

"Best receiver in the NFL in my eyes," Prescott said. "He's freakish. Just throw it near him. Just throw it within five yards of him, and he'll make the catch."

why does this matter? you keep posting this as if it means something, Dez cant control who defends him. Antonio Brown torched Washington week 1 and wasnt being covered by Norman, doesnt make the performance any less meaningful

It matters some because receivers are not only judged by their numbers but who they're manned up against. Micheal Irvin had some good games against Deion and Darrell Green who had all kinds of issues covering Irvin. This was some of the arguments made in favor of Irvin being elected to the HOF was how well he played against great corners. In 2011 in the opener against the Jets, Dez made Darrelle Revis look bad on a couple of catches when Revis was hands down the best corner in the game.

Dez went up and owned Revis on one play, even Revis looked amazed at the play Dez made. Dez has begun to struggle against average corners. It was a pretty ho hum 100 yard game he had against Washington, it was a nice game but he certainly didn't torch the Commanders. He never caught a pass over 21 yards, had a drop and no TD's.

When a guy is ascending, he's awesome. Pay him like he's an elite player and he's overrated. Happens time and time again.

These discussions always amuse me..

Yes Ratliff, Free, Miles, Barber and others all got huge money followed by a massive drop in results. I'm not sure why that fact--or fan discussion surrounding it--is amusing. Quite possibly I'm missing your point.

I haven't--and I don't--blame Dez's big drop in production to his contract. Romo has been out hurt and Dez has missed a lot of games w/injury.

At this point I don't really care if Dez lives up to his contract. I just want some consistent production and am re-framing for myself and other fans what realistic expectations for Bryant likely look like.

I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. The horror of it all--you are going to name names the next time Dez has a nice game!

What treason on my part for posting his numbers....the audacity and hubris I displayed in suggesting that a more conservative Dak Prescott at quarterback is not as likely to throw as frequently in Bryant's direction.

This is all so troubling to me! What will I do?

I have not given up on Dez but when you are paid like an All Pro you expect the player to produce as such. Big game coming up and I hope he goes out there and plays big.

Those that have a dislike for Dez because he's been hurt or want him traded are just flat out stupid.
