DO looks like a play maker. Plays with edge and has dawg in him. Amazing athlete. Long but moves real well. Guy was a S not too long ago. Can also be a great blitzer. I love the pick. I wish they made this pick and did not sign LVE. At least they have 2 guys that can replace him in a couple years. I think DO will make a few splash plays this season and get us all excited for the future. He’s an athlete with an edge. Love the pick.

At first, Overshown will probably be a Special Teams guy and 3rd and long passing down LB.
If they want him to be the full package he probably needs to bulk up and have DQ teach him
the ropes on evading the blocks. I love the pick and the upside even as a dominant 3rd down
coverage LB is tremendous in the 3rd round. Great pick!

Lets talk a bit about Demarvion Overshown.
6'4" 220lb rook with high ceiling.
Is DO playing behind Clark on the depth chart, if he puts some weight on does he compete with Sam?
Trying to figure out where this rook stud competes and finds his role early.
He’s the ideal replacement for Kearse next year. He would thrive in that role

There's a certain "Safety" who is probably only gonna play a few more years. This is his "son"
That safety is a FA next year if you are thinking about the same safety I am lol

Yep, and Jabril Cox better figure out a way to back up LVE quickly or he will be cut this camp.
Eventual starter. Might kick Cox off the roster. He's gonna be a good one. I'm sure DQ has a plan.
I think Cox stays on the roster and they will not give up on him yet.

They really don't have that many LB's on the roster now, as they rarely keep that many going into TC.
They have 9 on the roster,
We know Micah, LVE, Clark and pretty sure Overshown as well.

Then there is Harper, which do we know enough about him, and then Jefferson, who was released then on the PS.

The other 2 are UDFA's. So it depends on how many they keep, usually 6. So Jefferson or Wheat or Johnson, or maybe even Harper, will need to win out over Cox.
Right now I don't see that, as cox can play ST's.
I do see many roster predictions they only keep 5, since Kearse plays that hybrid role. However, one must consider, Micah plays more DE, so therefore one less on LB duties.

I honestly don’t see him spelling Clarke. I think it’s more LVE position he spells. Overshown is good in coverage and can learn. But he’ll be moving around slot. Loved him at Texas.

We’ll find out if he’s going to be a good one. A little premature to mark down a third round pick as an eventual starter. He has potential, but we’ll see. I’m always cautious with draft picks until I see them perform on the field in an NFL game.

Overshown has the skills in coverage to carry LBs and TEs across the field, and he can also spy mobile QBs.

He also has some skill as a pass rusher on the blitz. I imagine he will be used in a variety of roles depending on the game to eliminate a weapon the opponent uses and he matches up against well.

At 220 lbs— he is pretty light as a full time LBer. I am concerned about him holding up against the run.
why would he carry LBers? you mean RBs?

"think" that nice but if DO flashes all over camp and is making plays is Cox is the odd man out..as soon as DO was drafted the first thing was Coxes replacement as he reminds me of anther Donavan Wilson/Kearse type.

DeMarvion Overshown is more LB than Safety. His pass coverage at times was on and off. He was better being a LB who could run at the ballcarrier and lay a hit.
I actually think that's the issue...he played like a thumper in college but against NFL bodies, he could struggle whereas his shape and size scream safety with TE travel skills /blitz ability when needed.

I hope I'm wrong. Seems like Arizona's Isaiah Simmons ......needs the right fit for his skillset and body size.

Genuinely think we have a boom or bust in this young man.

I wasn’t a fan of Cox when he was drafted. He lacks physicality and just never impressed me. He was solid in coverage at LSU, but not much else.

People forget about Harper but I much prefer him to Jabril Cox. He has a physical edge to his game that I like (and Cox doesn’t have) and he is an athletic mover. He has potential that Cox doesn’t IMO. He just needed some coaching when Dallas drafted him… which he has now had a year of.

I think Harper will make the team before Jabril will. I will be keeping an eye on him in camp this year.

I’m a Longhorn fan so got to watch a lot of this guy. I don’t think the defensive coaches did him much justice the way they played him. I KNOW Dan Quinn will get the most out of him and soon. It will be fun to watch him against the competition in training camp.

It will be a passing of the torch from LVE to Overshown.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is Leighton's last year as a Cowboy.

I'm guessing the possibility of signing an additional free agent LB later.

He better just start resting his personality into hard work, period. Not even any diamond necklaces or ear studs.

His head set seems more aligned with the receiver, safety, cornerback thoughts and not a ground level aggressive linebacker. He doesn't seem to emerse himself in aggressive stand your ground, but win the confrontation.
