The LEO position is essentially just a weak-side defensive end that will stand up in a two-point stance in some 3-4 looks. The goal of the position is to get the team's most explosive edge player the freedom to attack off the edge.

Its early, but Im believing Qs LEO depth is the following...

Parsons
Armstrong
Fowler
McKinley

OD looks like he can work his way in to the comp there, but early comp will be sharing Clarks role initially.
If LVE isnt getting it done, than OD or Harper figure it out, but Cox has to elevate his game if he has any chance to stay even in the depth race.

That’s an interesting an opinion to have of a guy they don’t play though. Is this all practice he’s not playing well in?
I'm not sure. It was a line from Nick Eatman. He is as about tied in as anyone but it could mean many things.

The question is the nature of the steps back. Maturity, physical, mental? Who knows?

He shrinks like a frightened turtle.
He made that goal line play as a rookie. It was encouraging because his physicality was at question as he was a coverage backer. Thing is in 2 preseasons I have not seen many plays.

He ends up in box scores but he is not making plays on the ball. I don't know what to think about him.

I mean….he was a mid round pick. Maybe he wasn’t a steal after all.

He made excessive mistakes in preseason games.

He plays like a CB thaoes for the INT on all plays...makes a few wow plays but fails the other 90%...

When Cox was coming out in the draft, I wasn’t a big fan at all. He lacked physicality in his play and basically was just a coverage LB. When people were talking about him being a 2nd round pick, I was like, “Hell no.”

However, when he slipped to the 4th round, I thought it was worth a shot that late and that maybe I was wrong about how I felt about him.

Apparently not.

This is a good case study in how fans feel about the team’s draft: the media and draft guru’s had Cox as a second round pick and when Dallas got him in the 4th round, people almost unanimously called it a great pick. “good value” they said.

But in actuality, the media had the player graded incorrectly, and the teams had him as a much later prospect. The end result has been anything but “good value” for the team. It has essentially been a wasted pick and wasted time.

Conversely, Travis Frederick was widely viewed as a “reach” and “terrible value” in the 2013 draft. The teams had him rated as a much higher prospect than the draft gurus did. That awful pick turned in to the best center in football and was a multiple time all-pro and pro bowl player.

It is something for fans to remember when their expectations (set by the mock drafting media) don’t align with where a prospect is drafted by their team. Perhaps we should not be so sure that a player would have been available a round or two later… or when our team skips on a guy in the 3rd round that “should have been a first round pick”.

You have to go slow with him, not expose him to too much information. You wouldn't want him to be ...........over-shown?

Yeah, I know I'm not the first with this cheesy joke. I'm probably not even the tenth.

I wasn’t a fan of Cox when he was drafted. He lacks physicality and just never impressed me. He was solid in coverage at LSU, but not much else.
He's really a Bison and not a Tiger. Dan Quinn may be searching for the next Kam for the remainder of his career. That role requires a freaky smart physical and fast athlete to the fullest extent. But he's searching. DO and Cox are the type of athlete you look for and then the reps and study have to become engrained into their movements on the field. Not sure what kind of student either is but it's a big key to the position.
