Let's trade up. But not for McFadden.

Let's trade up for Malcolm Jenkins. We need defense, not offense. We can get a 2nd rd RB or WR. Jenkins is a great CB prospect. He will be a very solid player at least. Selling the farm for an offensive player when you have the top offense in the conference is stupid.

Our defense is struggling. Jenkins would be a great 3rd CB for a year or two.

If we do trade up, I hope it's with our 2nd round or 3rd round pick because some has slipped down the Draft badly.

I think the same problem drafting McFadden arises with Jenkins. We already have a lot of money invested in the secondary. Why trade up and add another high-priced CB/S?

Besides, we've spent the past five drafts (Spencer, Carpenter, Spears/Ware, Newman, Roy Williams) on defense. At what point are we going to draft for offense?

The other factor is playing time. I can see a running back getting significant playing time with Julius Jones' departure but is Jenkins going to get significant playing time? Is a wide receiver going to get significant playing time?

I think this is the year we draft a running back in the first round and possibly a corner back, but at the draft positions we now occupy. I just don't see a receiver that's worthy of the first round, especially where the Cowboys pick.

Assuming we pick at the end of the first :) you don't think there are any WRs worthy? Doucet or Bowman, for example?

Sure, we've drafted defense, but our defense still isn't all that good.

We don't need to draft for offense. We have a great offense. We don't have a great defense.

He would play all the nickel stuff his first year. Reeves is getting a pretty decent amount of time, and he isn't any good. Jenkins would get more than him. Also, if Newman or Henry get injured he would get significant time.

We need a corner either way.

James Hardy is better than both.

It depends on who's available. I haven't really followed Bowman all that much. Doucet is a Craig Davis (Chargers WR) clone, and I'm not certain his type can't be found in lower rounds.

Our defense is still coming into its own. Remember, this is still a young defense trying to grasp a new 3-4 system.

And we should never rest on our offense. This may be a great offense, but this offense doesn't have a true home-run threat. That's what this offense needs to make it even greater.

I don't think you pass up a running back that gives you that dimension just because you're looking to make the defense stronger.

Of course, if there's a defensive player that strengthens that you unit, by all means take him. But I think this offense still needs a home-run hitter in the backfield, which it lacks.

Even so, I'm not against drafting a corner back. I just think we should trade up to get one. There aren't any Deion Sanders in this draft.

Jenkins or Cason will be studs in the NFL. You really cant go wrong with an Ohio State DB.

I'd rather stay where we are and take Cason and a running back. Cason is a good returner so he serves two purposes.

Then maybe we can steal Sweed in the second round, but I'm not so much sold on taking a wide receiver in the first.

So, what is good?

Our defense isn't great but far from being "isn't all that good".

I've seen a mock draft that has the Cowboys grabbing Reggie Smith (CB OU 6'0 197lbs) with the Browns pick. Not a bad pick if you ask me. He has great ball skills and he is big and physical with receivers and he isn't afraid to lay wood.

Thats what this team needs. Physical CB's that can wrap up and run. Not like Donte Stallworth's ho, I mean Jacque Reeves.

I havent seen him play that much but I will watch Bowl game and gander.

I like Cason's return ability (even though he probably wont be used much, like TNew) He is similar to Justin Miller of Jets but I dont think as fast.

Jenkins is physical and reminds me of Marlon Jackson. I am curious to see what he runs. If its a low 4.4 he will be a top 10 pick.

I have no interest in trading up unless it is absolute theft to do it.

Isn't this looking like a pretty deep draft for corners? They might just have a really good one available where they're at. Too early to tell.

Jenkins is the best corner in the draft.
