How much would you pay him? He’d make our defense the best in the league. I wouldn’t over pay though, we still need to resign parsons. He’s thst good that I’d sign him even if it meant losing Diggs.
Doesn't matter. He isn't leaving NY.

The 2nd tier options of Dalvin Tomlin and Javon Hargrave are great “fall back” options. Even the 3rd tier options of A’Shon Robinson and Andrew Billings would represent significant upgrades to our 1 tech situation.
The "nice" thing about the situation is that given how bad we are at DT, anyone with significant rotation on another team is likely to be an upgrade.
DT has been the low hanging fruit for improving the team for a while, and probably even moreso this year. Last year there was at least some reason to believe that Gallimore, and maybe even Hill, might give us something. That's over now.

Payne would put an end to hurts running on us. Micah would end up with 20 sacks. Teams won’t run as well which would give us more pass rushing downs.

They tried to sign Von Miller.
They say that….but I feel if they truly tried he’d be a Cowboy.

But I’m also thankful they didn’t sign him. That’s one thing I’ll stand by. I would stay away paying 33 year olds big money. Daron Payne is young so he’s a different case.

They won't but how much money do you invest in DT? That franchise tag is going to be a grip and they are already paying Allen a lot.
So here we come to the CAP HELL argument and those fans who blindly say....the CAP money's gone up. Well indeed it has, but all that means is that EVERY team has more money, it's not so much how much money we've got, it's how much we have in comparison to others.
We arent in the top end FA market.

EXACTLY. IT was all a PR scam. Buffalo was KNOWN to be making Von Miller the priority; no one else was going to get him. The Clown show played everyone - making people believe they were really going to do something big in FA. Never was going to happen.

It won’t be cheap for sure

Extending Payne at an expected $20 million per year, with DT Jonathan Allen set to count $21 million against the cap, would have Washington at over $40 million for its two starting tackles if they re-sign Payne. Franchising Payne would cost the Commanders $18 million.

Don't mean to be a debbie downer but any amount of capspace the Cowboys can free up will be used to retain some of their free agents. Even then, you can expect to lose several guys.

Just as a reminder, Dallas is already at the cap and has these free agents: Wilson, LVE, Pollard, Steele, McGovern, Rush, Watkins and Schultz. That's not even getting into the recent pick ups like Hilton, Hankins, Peters, etc. or the lesser guys like Goodwin, Brown, etc.

I realize that teams can move money around but that ability isn't infinite. Dallas has a lot of big contracts and guaranteed money on the books that they just can't ignore.

I just hope they address DT in the draft. Its a GLARING issue.

Anyone see Cowboys spending 100 million on defensive tackle? Because I don't. And is that his price? I'd be for it if it especially if we think we are a defensive tackle away.....
Id be all for it. He would be the anchor that our defence needs. With the players we have on defence, he'd make us the best defence in the league. Parsons would have a field day with him on the team. With him on the team, Parsons would return to being a QB's worst nightmare.

Exactly, and, when we know teams are passing, our defence this season was almost impossible to move the ball against. If it got to 3rd and 10+, teams were usually better off punting on 3rd down.

Yep and if he hit FA, there are at least 10 teams that could out bid him for his services. Some of these threads dont take into account the near future and how much Dak's, Micah's and CeeDee's extensions are going to cost with the massively inflated CAP Space ALL teams will receive over the next two years.
