Which franchise gets to NFC Conference game first this Century: Lions or Cowboys?

With the Cowboys resembling more like the Lions than the once dominant franchise, the Lions had a nice 2023 draft.

Cowboys 2nd rd draft picks have been bad the past decade and can't seem to find OL talent unless they use a 1st rd pick. When a franchise relies more on the draft to fill holes than free agency, you see why the Cowboys haven't seen a NFC Conference finals in THREE DECADES.
That's like asking what would you like for dinner? Spam (Dallas) or bologna (Lions)? I'll take some Spam... :muttley:

Gone are the filet mignon, sirloin, or ribeye steak days.....right now we are struggling to get back to fajita level, skirt steak BABY!!

I think Detroit is on the cusp of being a playoff team; they are building a good young team that plays hard and physical; a reflection of their coach…if you were a player who would you prefer to play for: Dan Campbell or Mike McCarthy…
Moreover Detroit doesn’t have Jerry Jones, so a big advantage there. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Lions in the playoffs this year.

Most have them winning their division. Will see how they start off since they open at KC.

The Cowboys have put together a very good team under Mike McCarthy and the win-loss record tells me that the players like playing for him just fine. McCarthy has proven more than Campbell. Detroit hasn't proven anything and despite all the hype, if they have a crappy season, no one would be surprised or even entertain the subject. Must be nice to be considered darlings after achieving nothing in decades while the Cowboys are ridiculed for the same thing, despite having much better success over that span.

For now the Lions are all hype. We are coming off back to back playoff seasons. Love what the Lions are doing, but they have a lot to prove to be even at our pathetically mediocre level of recent success.
They blew it in the draft. 2 firsts one in the top 10 and the come out of it with a MLB and a situational RB. Could have got Jalen Carter to put on that DLine with last years number 1 and something else more important then a MLB

Who 1st? hard to say, right now I would have to go with the cowboys. over detroit, but it could easily be detroit.
with chargers, about the same cowboys did more last season than the chargers, not much more but I would have to say cowboys are favored,
but could easily be chargers.

How about this , none of the 3 make the conf champ game?

I'm going to say it they are a very talented team this year. They can give the Eagles, Cowboys and the Niner a run for their money. I would not be surprised if they end up in the championship game this year.

A Lions-Cowboys NFC championship game should not be considered out of the question. The Lions have been doing some impressive team-building.

Dallas beat them 24-6. Not really competitive. They’re going to be 0-2 in a few weeks and the bandwagon will have a lot of open spots
Early in the season when half their starters were injured. I think they are going to roll that division this year.

In the race to crown the most cursed franchise in history, two have left the pack behind. The Browns and Lions are neck and neck.

This thread is the exact proof that this forum is run by Eagle trolls.

Since 2000

Record

Lions 131-237-2
Cowboys 198-172

Seasons at .500 or better

Lions 5
Cowboys 16

Division Wins

Lions 0
Cowboys 6

Playoff Appearances
Lions 3
Cowboys 9

The 2 teams are more different then the Patriots and Cowboys since 2000. Dumb thread. Keep it up Eagle trolls. You make this place great.

LOL!!! Damn haters need to get the heck outta here! How many titles do the Lions have? Ridiculous!
Facts and hate are very different. Wake me up if we ever win a divisional playoff game. Those Super Bowl trophies are getting really rusty but almost 30 years will do that.

Except older fans like me remember when we were the gold standard of winning. I have not lowered the bar of my expectations for my team. Bottom line playoff results that get us to an nfc championship game. After waiting almost 30 years, I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Either we make it or major changes are coming. So if not this year, next.
No they’re not. We havent seen foundational changes in over 30 years. As long as a Jones owns the team, winning will always finish behind letting Jerry play with his toy train pretending to be a football guy.

The Lions ? Really? The Lions ? They're arguably the most inept franchise (Cleveland also) in the last 25 years. Wake me up when they win a SINGLE playoff game.

I hate to say it, but they have a better chance of going deep in the playoffs this year than the Cowboys.
Dallas has the better roster in almost all spots but offensive line. I really don't know if this statement is true.

The Lions certainly could go on a run and Dallas could falter, but by all accounts Dallas is the better team on paper.
