If week 17 comes down to needing the game against Detroit and we can’t beat them at home, then we don’t deserve to make the playoffs.Nonetheless, this season I’d rather play Minnesota than Detroit.
Good post…I get your points. The Cowboys have put together a very good team under Mike McCarthy and the win-loss record tells me that the players like playing for him just fine. McCarthy has proven more than Campbell. Detroit hasn't proven anything and despite all the hype, if they have a crappy season, no one would be surprised or even entertain the subject. Must be nice to be considered darlings after achieving nothing in decades while the Cowboys are ridiculed for the same thing, despite having much better success over that span.
I think the Packers said something like that late last season. If week 17 comes down to needing the game against Detroit and we can’t beat them at home, then we don’t deserve to make the playoffs.
What Campbell is building is yet to be seen. McCarthy has done it before, although he rarely gets credit for it. As quiet as it's kept, Big Mac has churned the Cowboys roster since he got here and the results have actually been steady and good. I hope it continues.Good post…I get your points.
While I have been a lifelong Cowboy fan and will continue to support them I am befuddled by their failure to win big games…they don’t respond when punched in the mouth…how many playoff games, or even big games did the Cowboys come out flat and play uninspired? I put the onus on the coaching staff.
I think MM has had better talent in his career than Dan Campbell; he has had generational QBs in Brett Farve and Aaron Rodgers; Dan Campbell is making his run with Jared Goff; moreover, Dan Campbell has started from scratch and is building a good foundation. I think there is something to be said for that and he is building their mentality in his own image.
I don’t think the Detroit Lions are the darlings of their division…I just think they are an improving team that will be contending for the playoffs sooner rather than later.
One thing Lions do have going for them is that they don’t have a meddling owner
2016 NFL Draft Dak>Gof>Wentz
It’s always been that way in Detroit. Remind me how much success they have had??? I’m curious to know??. How’d they do in the playoffs last season?Lions. They have a hc w power to hire and fire. Plus they can and do hire a new gm when they don’t win. And everyone in their org doesn’t report to the owner (ie, no accountability to the hc).
Playcaller ? Are you insane ? The Cowboys playcaller is a Super Bowl winning head coach. How did he all of a sudden become a bad playcaller? Because YOU said so ?With the exception of quarterback and play caller, I completely agree. what they contend for is the next question.
Some of the 2nd round picks have not been very good. However, there are several years where Dallas has picked well in the 2nd round. Judge for yourself.Which franchise gets to NFC Conference game first this Century: Lions or Cowboys?
With the Cowboys resembling more like the Lions than the once dominant franchise, the Lions had a nice 2023 draft.
Cowboys 2nd rd draft picks have been bad the past decade and can't seem to find OL talent unless they use a 1st rd pick. When a franchise relies more on the draft to fill holes than free agency, you see why the Cowboys haven't seen a NFC Conference finals in THREE DECADES.
