Wild card for at least an interview who isn't on that list:

Wes Phillips. That's right, Uncle Wade's boy. Pretty highly regarded young guy, was with McVay in the day, now OC under O'Connell in Minny where they're having an unexpectedly good year and have revived Sam Darnold, and was already here under Wade and Garrett so he has Jones Family familiarity.

I'd still bet on Kellen though. He and Dak are BFFs and that's huge to Jerry.
Kellen Moore is another of Jerry's guys who he would hire without head coaching experience but he's not bringing anyone in from the outside who hasn't done it before. It's the way that complete idiot thinks and his assistant doesn't think. He just giggles and agrees with dad.

Frankly, I'm just stunned that Belichick isn't happening. Didn't seem like he even gave it a chance.

Or he was told they are sticking with Pennsylvania Fats.
According to this article: https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/202...l-belichick-group-doubted-jerry-jones-control

Dallas was a potential spot — nobody can take a collection of talent and turn it into a team like Belichick — but nobody knew if owner Jerry Jones would move on from Mike McCarthy, and if he did, if he’d want to hand over the team to Belichick.

I think he might. After the rookie Garrett, he goes to the experienced McCarthy. I can see him going back to the young guy now. Especially if Zimmer is still here, which I bet he would be. An entire staff of young guys, especially "outsiders", I agree that wouldn't happen.

I'll be amazed if Flores is truly considered by any team.

1. The spat between him and Tua was odd. Him playing head games with the recently drafted hopeful franchise QB was dumb.
2. Him publicly blasting the owner claiming they wanted to tank in 2019
3. Him claiming that claim that the NFL investigated and refuted

Not like he was great in Miami as a HC. Didn't have any good connections with OCs. Shuffled them yearly IIRC.

I wonder if they will consider Flores, as he is suing the NFL, but has done a terrific job turning around that Viking D without a star.
yeah he's probably my darkhorse favorite, but don't see him and jerry co-existing well at all.

Just a following up post from yesterday's Zimmer possibility for the Cowboys HC Job. Here are the top candidates for next year:

(Taken by CBS Sports)

1) Ben Johnson Lions OC
2) Vrabel Former Titan HC
3) Flores Viking DC
4) Glenn Lions DC
5) Brady Bills OC
6) Kinksbury Commanders OC
7) Joseph Broncos DC
8) Slowik Texans OC
9) Cohen Tampa OC
10) Minter Chargers DC
11) Moore Eagles OC

Who is favorites top choice or choices? Vrabel, Flores or Johnson, Slowik for me.
Most likely status quo ughh but at worse we're stuck with is the old staff i hope they get a new OC, OL coach etc.. New offensive staff let big mike be just a HC!!

2024-25 is a soft rebuild.

Big Mike has been a disaster with out KMoore.

his play calling is terrible.

Jerry/SJones would love to get KMoore and that #1 offense back in Dallas.

long term, 2025 could be the last season for Dak in Dallas.

Dak is facing a Post June cut in March 2026.
they had the number 1 offense and dak was an mvp candidate w/out moore.

ILL Take that.. literally the opposite of a yes man. didn't play faves called players out that needed no matter their status.. we could use that here. dont need to constant dry rubbing of our post and pregame and weekly reports ie status quo, everything's hunky dory.

I really hope MM isn't back in any capacity.

While I can appreciate posts like this, I am really struggling to get excited about a possible new HC knowing that it won't really change anything.
Correct. Because the position of head coach of the Dallas cowboys is already filled. And has been since 1994. Head Coach Jerry Jones

That would be smart. I’m a Tech fan so I know all about him. He’s not my choice, but he certainly checks all the boxes for the way the Jones pick coaches.
that's true but please stop saying it's only the joneses literally will get 3 interviews and hired by another team.. they are NOT the only ones who hire these coaches over and over. the retreads are a regular carousel.

I refuse to believe Belichick took the NC job without getting feedback from the Cowboys that their head coach position would not be available. I think his decision to take that job now confirms McCarthy will stay.
I agree

You think his decision hinged on what Jerry was doing? I doubt it. This team is a complete mess and then you have the 2 morons to deal with on top of it. My guess is he wanted nothing to do with having Jerry and junior in his ear all year round.

I can definitely see Aaron Glenn being a strong candidate with Jerry push the “former Cowboy” narrative

They would have to extend MM. Jerry is not going to pay him another dime.
Certainly didn’t look like it after Prescott went down. But these last few games this team hasn’t given up. And the support for McCarthy has grown.

Will it be enough for a 1 or 2 year extension. Who knows . It might rest more on whether he wants to return or test the waters out there .

But my hunch , at least based on what we’ve been hearing, is Jethro & Son are looking for a way to bring him back.
