My question would be who would Johnson bring as his DC and who would Vrabel bring as his OC?
I like him as a prospect. However, his teams do statistically fall off near the end of the season.Kinksbury seems intriguing.
I imagine Johnson would bring somebody like Scottie Montgomery or Tanner Engstrand as Johnson likely still calls playsMy question would be who would Johnson bring as his DC and who would Vrabel bring as his OC?
I was making a bad joke with the last name being spelled wrong hahaI like him as a prospect. However, his teams do statistically fall off near the end of the season.
He has worked wonders with every quarterback he has worked with.
It's hard to say because Jerry has used multiple methods for selecting a coach. He's picked three (Gailey, Campo and Garrett) who had no previous head coaching experience. I could see them going with Moore similarly to how Garrett was seen as the golden child here.I actually think if they move on from Mike that it’s going to be Kliff. Here is the list of reasons.
NFL HC experience
Offensive coach
Will let them pick coaches like DC
From TX
Has experience working with QB’s and making them better.
Has some success as a HC in the NFL
He checks all the boxes for everything they like in a HC. They’re not going to go with anyone without experience as a HC. I would be shocked if they did.
Probably not as head coach ... at least not right now. He'd have to go somewhere and shine as a coordinator to get another shot IMO.If Dallas fires McCarthy, would any other pro team hire him as head coach?
I'd actually be interested in Wes as a head coach. If it's between him and a guy like Moore, who we know and who I just can't see leading a team, I'd prefer the unknown option. Obviously, there are better coaching prospects, and I'm partial to Glenn, but we have to work within Jerry's circle, which has become extremely small, and set realistic expectations as fans.I noticed when Jerry first was asked a few weeks ago about firing Mike in-season, he actually said he regretted firing Wade when he did and pointed out how many people around the league told him Wade's defense basically won that Super Bowl for Denver. That really surprised me, especially considering it was his boy Garrett who took over.
I told you guys yesterday that the Saints are interested in McCarthy and he is interested in them My sources say ! But it got deleted! If Dallas fires McCarthy, would any other pro team hire him as head coach?
Ba humbug.
OK don’t believe my Uncle works in the Saints organizationBa humbug.
We will only win 1 more game 6-11 isn’t getting it doneBTW, when McCarthy is retained I will be posting a Mike McCarthy appreciation thread and you will pay your respects there.
This is a list for normal teams. Doubt most, if any, of these are on Jerry’s shortlist.Just a following up post from yesterday's Zimmer possibility for the Cowboys HC Job. Here are the top candidates for next year:
(Taken by CBS Sports)
1) Ben Johnson Lions OC
2) Vrabel Former Titan HC
3) Flores Viking DC
4) Glenn Lions DC
5) Brady Bills OC
6) Kinksbury Commanders OC
7) Joseph Broncos DC
8) Slowik Texans OC
9) Cohen Tampa OC
10) Minter Chargers DC
11) Moore Eagles OC
I admittedly am intrigued by this idea.Wild card for at least an interview who isn't on that list:
Wes Phillips. That's right, Uncle Wade's boy. Pretty highly regarded young guy, was with McVay in the day, now OC under O'Connell in Minny where they're having an unexpectedly good year and have revived Sam Darnold, and was already here under Wade and Garrett so he has Jones Family familiarity.
I'd still bet on Kellen though. He and Dak are BFFs and that's huge to Jerry.
At least he came here with his dad and not Garrett, and after us spent time in the McVay and McConnell WCO. They kept him because he was considered a promising young coach.I'd actually be interested in Wes as a head coach. If it's between him and a guy like Moore, who we know and who I just can't see leading a team, I'd prefer the unknown option. Obviously, there are better coaching prospects, and I'm partial to Glenn, but we have to work within Jerry's circle, which has become extremely small, and set realistic expectations as fans.
Wes's tie to Garrett is....regrettable, but the coaching history with McVay and O Connell, plus the obvious family history, are positive marks in his favor.
It's inevitable. The question is why he hasn't extended McCarthy yet.I refuse to believe Belichick took the NC job without getting feedback from the Cowboys that their head coach position would not be available. I think his decision to take that job now confirms McCarthy will stay.
