He stated that if the Boys trade down, he thinks they are targeting Demarcus Lawrence in the late 1st.

The hosts all agreed that R. Shazier is a lock for the 1st round.

They had the usually JFB talk...

The hosts all seemed to cool down on Donald. Lots of talk about Barr.

Possibly target RB somewhere around rounds 3-4.

I think they're dead set on Easley. I think they know it'll take a trade-up to get Donald and they're not willing to trade away any draft picks. So this would make me think they think Easley will still be there at 47. I'm guessing they'd only trade back for Lawrence if Barr is off the board.

trade back for lawrence with easley coming in r2 or r3 makes a lot of sense.

again think they 'won' last year with tfred/twill.
see no reason not to try that model again.

lawrence would be a passing down guy here next year and easley probably also gets on field in passing downs regularly.

if 16 nets both picks that's tremendous value IMHO.

also agree that donald is simply too coveted to worry about.

If they trade down and get D. Law it will be a repeat of last year in the media. Jerry/Cowboys will be made fun of for drafting a guy "guaranteed to be there with there second pick".

Not saying he will be as productive as Travis Frederick, but trading down and getting the guy you want is a good strategy, especially with where we have been picking in the 15-24 range. These last 1st/2nd players are guys who us as fans have no idea how teams view them.

yup. good point.
key is manipulating draft to get guys you want at solid values.

that was really the secret of jimmy johnson.
all that moving around was to flip the board to where you were faced with a guy you like at solid value.

i could care less if i like the draft come sunday night but i reallly reallllly wanna like it in 3 years.

D.Law is starting to climb and I don't think too many would be shocked to see him climb into the top of the second or bottom of the first range.

I've heard on a couple of different occasions that they like West at RB. 3rd or 4th would be the right spot for him.

I don't know guys. I watched a lot of Lawrence at Boise St. I like him but I don't know if I love him. I just didn't see the sudden explosion from him. He's pretty strong for his size and he can play with leverage. He looks more like a 34 OLB to me. He's too small to be a SDE and I don't think he's quick enough to be a Rush DE in a 43. Against New Mexico, which I specifically watched, he did do much in 2 games. He had 6 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and no Sacks.

UNM is not exactly a powerhouse. If I'm looking at a DE later in the 1st or 2nd round, I'm looking at Attaochu, Tuitt, Crichton or Martin.

I like Lawrence. Don't love him. OK with him in a trade down. Would rather have Ward.

Also, you can't aruge with West's production. Something like 2500 yds rushing in a year, regardless if the school you did it at.

West is one of my pet cats. Had him in my very first Mock Draft. I love the guy.

I thought he might be a 5th to 7th round pick when I was looking at him and now it looks like he might be a 3rd. That's a drag. LOL...

Always happens. If anything, shows you have an eye for talent if the guys you like keep getting picked earlier than you want them too. That's what I tell myself, at least lol

Boise State Alum here/season ticket holder/former player.....

I'd have real reservations about taking Lawrence in the 1st ala T. Fred last year.

Why?

1. He runs hot and cold as a player.....disappears sometimes.

2. Is he scheme compatible here in Dallas? IMO he will better suited for the 3-4 in the NFL.

3. He has butted heads w/ the BSU coaching staff in the past that lead to suspensions. Coach Pete ran a tight ship..so little was leaked regarding in house suspensions. Many speculated it was for skipping class.

Regardless, of all this.....When Lawrence is on....he is a good player. I just don't like the idea of getting a part time/situational player for your 1st pick. If your going to go this route.....you might as well go w/ Dee Forde. Ford has better burst off the ball....and better closing speed to the QB.

Broaddus has a video up at DC.com and talks about the Cowboys have fallen in love with Easley

A player who gets up the field and makes alot of tackles behind the line of scrimmage. And hard to block with just one player. This screams of the 1tech kind of guy Marinelli is looking for. he could get up to about 292-295. He's 288 right now. He;s played alot of 1tech at Florida

Smoke and mirrors....funny how all these guys make moves up the board in the last two weeks. All these guys that supposedly were the studs with the great game tape are dropping like flies. Tell me again how teams don't get enamored with combine and pro day numbers.

We don't know what their draft boards looked like prior to combine and pro days. All we know is what the talking heads were thinking, not the actual teams.

Anyway, a lot of times the "fast risers" end up not being that at all on draft day.
