Ah, no wonder you are sticking with saying Wade was the right choice at the time. It's only because you can't admit you were wrong then.

And I recall several expressing concerns about Wade and also about Garrett being hired by Jerry before we even had a HC.

uhh hello me saying Garrett should take over is admitting I was wrong? Seriously do you think before you post?

At the time though it was the right choice. In hindsight it wasnt

When Wade was hired over 90% of this board called it the right choice.

Who was your choice last year Bach?

BigDFan5;2357103 said:
You cant have it both ways Bach. You cant say Wade was the wrong choice last year without naming a better choice.

He came up with the best possible canidates at that late date hell he even gave guys like signletary their first interviews trying to turn over every rock

Hey, my initial point was that there were more than just two options. It's none of our faults that we were left with choosing between Wade and Norv. Once it got to that point I didn't like either, but definitely didn't want Norv.

The issue isn't about you or me or any other fan, it's about the team and what decisions are made for it. And I think most of us didn't really like Wade but he was deemed to be better than Norv and we wanted to hope we weren't making a mistake again.

Unfortunately it looks like it was another of Jerry's mistakes.

So it was between Wade and Norv and you didnt want Norv, who did that leave as your choice? You just said it yourself, out of the available options the right choice was made

Like I said earlier, you must be under the impression those were the only possible candidates. Just because most liked Wade over Norv, it doesn't mean either were the right choice.

and yet out of the choices those were the 2 best candidates

name one of the canidates that was better

i keep reading post after post about how the offense is a huge problem. i have to disagree. the only thing wrong with the offense, imo, is injuries and the o-line blocking. granted, 2 huge problems right now...but that is not what concerns me. it's the ATTITUDE of the offense...no swagger from the players, no confidence and no leadership.

stupid penalties and a terrible defense is the MAJOR problem...imo

somebody has to lite a fire and we all know wade will not do that. personally, i'm glad jones tore into the team b/c somebody needed to.

can things be fixed this season???? i dont know. what i do know...is this team has not responded well with it's back against the wall the past few years.

by the way....hello from the newbie. been a fan since the early 80's and just stumbled across this board. wish we were talking about wins instead of bad losses.

and fyi...i though wade was a bad hire, but it was hard to argue with a 13 win season last year.

but...i liked him better than norv who i also think is a terrible coach

I would have rather took a chance on Ron Rivera or Rex Ryan but Jerry had to have a former HC and he wanted someone that would keep the 3-4

Basically Jerry pigeon hold himself into a corner. Jerry had other choices he was just afraid a rookie HeadCoach would cost him a chance at the Super Bowl so he decided to pick from 2 head Coaches that had proven they where no good at 2 previous stops not 1 but two.

So did Jerry have options yes but he chose to limit his options and as most called it both picks would have been a bad hire.

FYI-Pitt lost LG Alan Faneca to FA this year, RG Simmons to injury for the year, and BOTH RBs Parker/Mendenhall...they're still taking care of everything in a business-like manner.

Really, at the same time, the losses of Kosier and Felix haven't been QUITE as significant as Pitt's losses. No excuses.

good point...but the steelers defense is good enough to win games and set the offense up with good field position

ours is not

But Pitt's offense has still played very well(outside of that 9 sack, 2 FG game against Philly).

Steve Dennis just said...

"Make no mistake, Jerry was angry and he chewed some butt in the locker room and let the team have it"

then he SD asked laufenberg if it was his place to do that and babe said....

"no, he has never seen another owner or GM talk to the team after the game like that, but this is Dallas and Jerry does what he wants....and he Undermines his coaches and he did it again today to wade"

normally, i would have a problem with that

but this team needs an ***-chewing and the coaching staff will not do it

i hope jerry chewed the staff also

This is where Jerry always hurts himself.

A lot of times people like to say how he's the owner and shouldn't be picking the players. But he's also the GM and it's his job to pick the players. And it's a role I actually think he's immensely improved at.

But he always finds a way to cross the coaching line. It makes for a nice snippet that Jones chewed the team out. But he shouldn't be doing that, just like he shouldn't be doing a lot of things where he steps on the coaches toes.

For once he's helped assemble a talented team (unlike in the early 2000s) but I wonder how much undermining of an already in-over-his-head Wade is going on.

I have no problem with Jerry going into the locker room and chewing out coaches AND players. However, if it's just players, that's crossing the line.

He needs to bash some heads.

There is no "normal" in Jerry being anywhere near this football team.

Gee..........I wonder why? This is yes man Campo Redux.

Oh. He's chewing the "staff" alright. Metaphorically speaking.

I'm almost of the exact opposite opinion. I think it'd be entirely out of line to bash all of the coaches with the players watching.

He can bash the coaches all he wants -- but he shouldn't do it in front of the players. That's not right imo.

Maybe you're right. Then again, in my head I can picture an owner coming in and telling all the coaches and the players that no one is safe if this thing doesn't get fixed real fast.
