I don't see Spears wanting to resign next offseason. He's gonna jump at the biggest payday.

Trading him makes some sense if you can get something of value in return.

We are NOT a rebuilding team. We're a team in contention for the Super Bowl. That's why we shouldn't trade away 3 productive and still fairly young veterans for ONE unproven draft pick. Yea, there's several players out there I'd like to draft, but not at the expense of sacrificing our potential run to the title.

Why does everyone want to keep 27? Why not just move up from 27? It is a lot cheaper to do so.

I wasn't advocating it. In fact I prefer to stay at 27 unless somebody really special starts dropping. But a couple of people in the thread asked how you could move up and retain still retain #27. That's why I asked the question.

I am not sure why anyone would be surprised with a trade with Miami. We know that we are looking at 9 or 10 new faces. At 12, have to figure it is either Earl Thomas or Rolando McClain. Really think Thomas goes 10 or 11 so that would leave McClain.

As to impact, he would immediately take Carpenter 3rd down series and most likely start for Brooking either by the end of the year or certainly next year. There isn't a single guy we draft that will probably have anymore impact than McClain.

Remember Wade isn't a fan of using rookies. Took time for Jenkins and Jones to start, like a year or more.

As to the trade, could be interesting to see what we would give up because have to believe Jerry doesn't want to give up any picks. My bet is that it would involve Spears, Carpenter, Watkins, Crayton and Siavii. Those take care of all of Miami needs and are all Ireland and Parcells guys except Siavii where they are really hurting.

Really don't see Barber going anywhere but definitely see Choice being moved on draft day. Regardless, any trade for players isn't going down until draft day because you don't want another team jumping you to get the player you want. So right now, it is just a rumor although one with some teeth to it.

We'd better not trade Choice either.

If they stay put at #27, BPA aside from QB and RB.

I still have my doubts it happens. I don't doubt at all that there are talks about something, but I just don't think it happens. I've been wrong before and I'd love to be on this.

I'm with you on this.

I hope we either stay put and get a quality player at 27 (which we will), or we trade down a few spots (around 3-8 spots) and still get a quality player with an extra pick to boot.

Really, really rather not see a trade up, unless we do it for nothing. And I don't consider starters and significant contributors "nothing."

If we trade with Miami, we need to get LT Andrew Gardner thrown in as filler coming to Dallas.

If you are going to roll with Free at LT, he would provide depth and a possible starter if Free doesn't work out.

I'll bet Flozell is back with the team before all is said and done.

It's possible we could look to acquire #12. Rolando McClain, anyone?
If McClain was there at 12 and we had the pick, I would think he actually would trump Thomas. We are pretty old at ILB. I'd love to get either of them though. Thomas would start, imo.

BTW, trading up from 27 to 12 would cost a fortune
