Lombardi: NFL admits call against Butler was wrong

The officiating didn't get us beat and our defense did. We didn't lose our last two playoff games due a couple of officiating calls.

That's a 7-point play essentially. You don't think 21-20 might have made halftime and the second half look a bit different?

The NFL rulebook is confirmation that all the speeches by NFL officials were irrelevant after Dez's catch was tampered with. By rule, specifically by the written rule, it was a catch. This last week's unsportsmanlike conduct variety, hadn't been called in 22 years, and the NFL has admitted it was the wrong call. Now the NFL is simply in PR mode, trying to minimize the damage from their ineptitude.

Not wasting anymore time on this.

You can't have billions of money flowing around in gambling on these games, and not have parties interested in rigging the system.

Hell, league owners are the founders of FanDuel and DraftKings.

The NFL from its inception has had nasty ties to the under belly of the mob. Things have only gotten worse.

There's no assurances we score a TD had it not been for that penalty and we couldn't stop Rodgers. Had Mo been called for that clear holding he was doing on a Packers 3rd down, they likely would have scored again.

I hate when people say stuff like this. The officials blew a call period that cost us potential points in a game that came down to the last play. Dismissing a blown call is ridiculous and that is what you are doing.

You're wasting your breath (typing, actually).:)

I seriously doubt that would make any difference. They would just be full-time morons instead of part-time morons. Blandino is year round and it doesn't help him....

Maybe so but at least at that point you can you've exhausted all your options to make officiating better.

FANS were preparing to make officiating excuses prior to the game, see the thread that was started and my comments. The officials blew a call but that one call didn't cost us the game. Some here just look for excuses.

I'm not about to go through that all over again. LOL Instant replay clearly showed Dez didn't complete the process of making a legal catch.
I would be ok with the call as no catch if the ref had called it incomplete on the field. Judgement calls happen. But overturning the call on the field
This....is maddening.

That call completely changed the flow of that game.
Second straight playoff game with a controversial at best and BS call at worst call by refs against the Cowboys. What are the odds?

You want to play the realist role here which is fine but you can't deny that call screwed our momentum over and there were numerous calls that did that in Sunday.

If some want to blame that penalty on the loss go ahead, now you'll have something else to go along with the Dez non catch from the 2014 playoffs to keep banging your heads over. Our defense lost us this game not a penalty.
That penalty for me set the tone for the rest of the game. When I saw that in my gut I knew no matter what we wouldn't win. I won't blame the loss on officiating. But unfortunately. That one play took us out of fg range and probably costed us 7 points. At a minimum. 3 points. 34 minus 31 is what?
