I've been a big T.O. supporter, but his production this season could easily be replaced. 8 games under 40 yards receiving? 2 games over 100?

I agree. Plus T.O. was never the #1 option on this team. In 2006 you could argue that Terry Glenn or Jason Witten was the #1 option, and from then on Witten has been the clear number one. I bet if you ask most defenses who they are the most worried about on the Cowboys offense, most will say Witten. There's a reason why Owens has never had more receptions than Witten on the Cowboys in a given season..

That will be ignored for the most part.

Can they get rid of Wade while they're at it?

I can't watch every game, but is he really doubled as much as people make it out to be?

The Owens persecution is terribly misguided. Did anyone see TO getting on Romo during the Giants win? Didn't think so.

did you happen to see the games and post gamers where he was being a Jack***............? cant really say ive seen him get on Romo in any game.....

its more in his media gatherings where he throws out his feelings.....

there is no denying his productivity....i think his decline in numbers were more due to the same problems that hindered the rest of the offense.....injuries and lack of discipline........

there is also no denying that he brings a black cloud with him wherever he goes be it his fault or not.....i for one grow tired of the TO circus regardless of who created it

Mike Lombardi is actually pretty reliable though. I remember him stating a couple things during the season that actually turned out to be true. There's no bias with this guy like there is with Werder. I think Lombardi most likely talked to someone close in the organization that gave him this info.

Dallas is ready to move on from Owens. The thing this team needs the most is to go under the radar, and build the offense around Romo, and NOT T.O.
Getting a couple things right necessitates he got this right? This has been speculation for how many years now? It was originally TO forcing BP out of town, and now, TO is allegedly forcing this organization to move JKG out of town?Everybody knows the offense revolves around TO, and TO himself stated the offense revolves around Romo. Nobody was more happy to get Romo on the field than TO, when he finally came in for Bledsoe and when Brad Johnson was on the field. TO doesn't have a beef with Romo. TO, JUST LIKE ROMO, have questioned Jason Garrett and his schemes. Key fact. The very person everybody wants the offense centered around questions the scheme of his coaches.

And RW11, too? His production was absurdly low. We could replace that. I think we can all agree that the production was low for those two for reasons other than their respective talent and abilities.

Just saying a receiver's production was low doesn't mean someone else would have done better.

this is why we have roy...austin will step it up to be the number two because dont forget we have felix and bennett to cover the slack...and crayton...witten the best TE in football...we could easily make up the difference, i agree with hos on this one...ball control offense is what would be the best for us...

If the main concern is his attitude always wanting the ball/sideline disruptions, why doesn't the coaching staff (HC) simply state that the offensive ideology is going to be a more balanced attack (for example), more emphasis on the running game next season (if that's what it is, in fact) ......

and whether TO wants to be part of that offense. If he still wants to be part of that offense, then he needs to realize he won't be getting the ball as frequently as he may want and he needs to "get with the program".

No complaining, no attitude.

If he's not comfortable with the scheme, then let him go.

I am BIG TO homer.

If releasing him is decided to be the best thing... then by all means - DO IT!
Jerry has yet to do what is best for this team. So if he released him we wouldnt know if its a good decision or not.

With that said... I think this is nonsense.

I don't see this as an easy question. There are arguments both ways on and off the field. Cutting him will be costly and high risk. Say what you want but he's an impact player. He will go to the HOF and he's still producing despite the stats.

I believe it. Too much smoke from JFE and Galloway, among others, for there not to be some fire.

I still doubt it happens... But if it does, it's a MAJOR step for Jerry. Even if you still think TO is great and isn't a problem, it would show that Jerry realizes that chemistry isn't overrated after all.

Thats the thing.

His "complaints" are warranted.
This team is underachieving and HE IS a WEAPON that is not used to help OVER ACHIEVE.

Its like having a racecar and only using 1st gear.

Jason Witten was mighty productive over the last eight games... The guy averaged 50 yards during that time, posting 5 games of 50 yards or less. Only one of those at 50, the rest, either 0, 34, 11, or 44 yards. How about the drop in production for Crayton throughout the year and the ineffectiveness of Roy?You see the correlation... Drop in prodiction isn't just for TO, the whole offense suffered.... That points to another factor...

Three of those games were with Brad Johnson quarterbacking our team, though.

not sure where i stand on this one. while he can be a distraction and selfish, there is no denying his production on this team. I wouldn't be overly in pain either way if he were to stay or go, whatever makes this team better....can this offense produce without hiM? if yes...then i'm for it. it just hasn't shown that it....

I feel ya. I do love TO's production when he produces. Seems like such a waste of his talent if he is to be released. I'm certainly not a TO hater but this may be must best for the team going into 2009.
