If these discussions are "serious" they better have good a plan for replacing his production.

As well as figure out how to deal with a HUGE cap hit.

Not that huge at all.

But like bb said, I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

TO's stats with Tony Romo, annualized over a 16 game season:

1172 yards (9th in NFL)
11 TDs (3rd in NFL)
16.7 YPC (3rd highest among top 10 receivers in NFL)

Can we at least try and trade him?

How bout the Raiders or Chiefs for example?

Put him on the hook and see who bites. :p:

if you think TO will allow himself to be traded to either of those youd probably be wrong......and i dont think Jerry would do that to him.....if he goes anywhere (which i doubt) he will want to go with

A) a team with a good QB

B)a team with a chance to win

The fact is NOT ONCE did Tony Romo ever call out Terrell Owens, and people may argue that he is a nice guy, but the fact is, HE BLAMED GARRETT for not putting player's in a position to make plays. Every single time, he says TO wants to win like any WR.I think Tony Romo knows better what exactly is the problem and who is the talent. He didn't give a ringing endorsement to Garrett, but he sure as hell gives ringing endorsements to TO.

I like what TO brings and think that he's a great player. However, at his age, he realistically has not much time left as a #1. His physical skills are not what they used to be (still very very good but not elite anymore) and he does not posses the great technical prowess (e.g., great route running) or amazing hands that will allow him to produce for years to come. Similarly, his ego will prevent him from transitioning into a role as a 2nd or 3rd option.

After seeing how the Giants took off when Shockey was out (and the positive effect that had on their QB), I have to say he should go.

Honestly, what I see here is that we will lose some fantasy stats but likely our O will still pretty well without him.

Don't forget about Tiki Barber. He was their best offensive player, and he undermined Manning the most.

Is there more to his track record of behind-the-scenes criticism and/or antics? Or does his trail of dirty deeds die there?
He worked in the Raider's organization, for Al Davis, the hot-spot of dis-function... Hell, he was fired from there... He doesn't know jack about how to keep an organization in check.

I get all the arguments for Owens, but aren't they all canceled out by the bottom line: his personality, for reasons of his own making, or otherwise, or in combination, simply does not help this team win. For me, it ends there.

Sure there are vitamins in milk that are good for you, but if one of its constituents also happens to be arsenic, you could list me 100 vitamins and it still wouldn't make sense to drink it.

Owens' presence is poisonous to this team and its future.

I think TO could be replaced on the field, for the most part.

I think getting him out of the locker room gives the team back some order. I think Romo and Witten are looked at more as leaders. I think the young guys have to find someone else to look up to. I think the coaches get better too.

That TD total is actually low... Romo missed 4 games... TO missed one the year before.

He is good for 14 TD's/annually.

I may be wrong but isn't Bolden a free agent this year?

WRs dont win Championships! If they truly are talking about releasing him then their has to be merit to him being a locker room cancer. Im kind of on the fence on this one, I still insist the Oline is the biggest issue with the offense all this other stuff is nonsense but maybe I am trivializing the situation.

I have always supported TO, but the dude really needs to shut his mouth. You cant help but wonder if he is creating circles or cliques with his constant chatter. If he is willing to say some of the things he says in the media I cant even imagine what he is telling friends and teammates.

BTW, for all those that want Shanahan, and at the same time think the problem is TO... Guess what? TO won't be going anywhere. Denver was the team in running for TO, when he was on the free-agent market but chose the Cowboys. And people talk about Shanahan bringing discipline and leadership to this team... How come he wanted the cancer that is TO?

The difference in him being here and not is $600,000. Hardly a huge cap hit.

Boldin's bread-and-butter are short passes and RAC, like TO, with a more bruising style of play. Garrett never called those this year, with his deep, vertical passign game. What makes you think he would use Boldin wisely, especially as the number one receiver in his deep-vertical passing game?

Mike Singletary said it best, imo.

"I would rather play with 10 guys and get penalized all the way down the field, than play with "guys like that'".

I wonder what Tom Landry would do with Terrell Owens.

I cut him because he's not good for Romo.... TO is a weapon but he's also a huge distraction for Romo. No one will challenge him because they are worried about his ego....

What are the Cap issues? From my understanding it's a wash or better.

A lot of you guys make Romo sound like a wimp, weak-willed, head cased QB. If Romo has these kinds of issues, which i seriously doubt, then Romo would need to hit the road every bit as much as you think TO should. If Romo can't handle the pressure of a QB who wants the ball more, then how the hell is he ever going to face the pressure of winning playoff games?

A lot of you guys pushing for the "cut TO" are also a lot of the same guys who complain when other posters make knee jerk reactions like wanting to cut Romo, or whoever else for a bad game or season, or claiming they are upset over the performance (these posters are often met with accusations of jumping off the bandwagon, and unreasonable so at that). Well, you guys are acting no different on the TO issue. No different at all.
