go look at any draft board and see where he is rated and what they say. Then look somewhere after the 3rd rd and try and find Smith. Its like people are blind or something. Dont you follow college football at all? Quinn is the 1st QB on every list. :bang2:

You choose to base your opinion on what the "boards" say, I choose to base mine on what I've seen on the field. I've seen them both play, Smith moreso than Quinn, and I don't see Quinn as better. That simple. Personally, I think the hype machine plays a role as someone gets annointed every year and this year happens to be Quinn.

Its like people think the draft boards are always right or something. :bang2:

Those are fine choices and anybody QB in the draft can be a bust, not matter the projection and where they are picked.

Also, I wouldn't mind taking a strong look at Brian Brohm, if he decides to come out.

I like Brohm a lot. Not against Ainge I suppose. I'd really like Booty of USC, but I prefer he stay for his senior year.

Quinn is the best prospect out there.

how is carson palmers brother looking this year. I saw alot of potential in him last year but this year I havent seen or heard a peep about him.

I am not too keen on quinn unless we somehow someway steal weiss from ND. even then no way we can get brady unless we tank the rest of the season

OMG, after one game of Romo, you've had your fill?? Man the pre-season had you guys on fire that Romo is the answer, and the future. Now it's Brady Quinn? Fix that O-Line and stop abandoning the run game when it's proven that you have a beast back there in Jones. That'll make Romo, or whover's job a lot easier.
Actually, I jumped on the Brady Quinn bandwagon early last year while we still had Bledsoe, Henson and Romo. Many did. What has changed in one year to alter that feeling? I mean except that we look worse at QB?

I know Hos :p: :D .

I just hope we go Offensive Line heavy in the Draft. I remember me and you had some good debates about whether the boys should go OL or Defense in this past draft.

When I get time, I want to see how some those rookie lineman are doing.

The thing is if you have a chance to get a potential franchise QB and you draft something else, when you don't already have one, your going to regret it in years to come. Period.

Yes OL should be a priority, but we shouldn't pass up a top tier QB for an OL.

Troy is a good to great College QB...he is not an NFL starting QB.

He would be a project in the NFL and even then probably only wind up being a backup.

If we took Troy Smith with a first round pick I would get on a plane and smack Jerry Jones.

We need to draft O-Line...if this season has not shown people that I don't know what will.

I have been watching OSU for many years, almost as many as watching the Cowboys. Troy Smith is getting better, with some good NFL coaching he could develop into a starting QB.

Besides it won't be the first time Jerry has reached for a QB in early rounds.

Round 1 I want a QB. We have to stop playing lottery at QB. We can fix the OL the rest of the draft and Free Agency.

We should have got Steve Hutchinson like I wanted. :p:

Except the people that cobble together draft boards like Kiper, the guy over at CBSSportsline(forget his name at the moment), Dan Pompeii et al over at TSN, etc, talk to scouts and General managers. You and I don't.

C'mon man, you know I am all for getting a QB, heck I even wrote that article a while back stating how it was all about the QB.

Im just thinking Parcells is still going to be here and I dont know if he wants to do that, so I am just being realistic.

Heck, I wanted a QB in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 but I just dont think Parcells wants to go that route.

Maybe Romo's performance this year (if not good) forces his hand and we get a brand spanking new QB in the first round.

So if Parcells doesn't want to go for a QB, then I just hope for the next best thing, which a new Tackle and Guard.

Quinn is bar none the best NFL QB prospect out there. Troy Smith is a great college QB but I'm not sure he'll transition well to the NFL, maybe he will, but IMO he's a bigger risk than Quinn. Smith is only 6'0 or 6'1. It looks like the playcalling and coaching job on him is tight to limit his mistakes.
ND just gives the ball to Quinn and win or lose, its on him. Quinn has a cannon arm and played under an NFL SB-winning Off coordinator with great success.
Quinn is the best prospect out there right now.
I like Brohm a lot and Booty too as NFL prospects. I like Leak too.

Obviously, our top two needs are QB and OL. Even if Romo becomes a star, Bledsoe will assuredly not be around next offseason and we have no one behind Romo. We HAVE to draft someone. I said we needed a QB this past offseason too. This next offseason its going to be critical.
We obviously need OL too. OT Jake Long from U of Mich is my choice. This guy IMO is the best OL in college. Some will say the Wisc kid but he concerns me. I think he had a knee injury too. I also have an inherent doubt about Wisc players and an inherent proclivity to pick Mich OL. Mich has put out a ton of great OL over the years. Jake Long is the next one.
He probably won't be the first one off the board either.
Now, while Long would be great, we NEED a RG more than any other position. Rivera has far and away been the worst OL on our team and the source of many sacks. He's awful. I'm okay with Gurode at C, Kosier at LG, and maybe Flo/McQ at LT. The other side of the line needs fixed. Long plays LT I believe but I'd move McQ over to RT and use Flo as trade bait if we took Long.

he isnt a NFL QB. I watched all the Notre Dame games and the Oline for Notre Dame is down right awful. Quinn is always under pressure. I believe this past weekend he was sacked 5 times & knocked down 12 times. Quinn knows how to move in the pocket and create plays out of nothing.

We give a team this years 1st & 2nd and the following years 1st and 4th.

Or whatever it takes. Trade away picks and a good player. You build your Offense with a QB and then a Oline.

Yeah, right, he's taller and faster and has a stronger arm than Drew Brees and he's made Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn starrs. Give me a break.

I'm also an OSU fan, but I wouldn't want Troy Smith to come here. I like the guy too much.

Seriously, though, why do you think Brady Quinn would make a difference to this particular team? I watched him throw something like 3-4 ints. in the Fiesta Bowl against a brutal Ohio St. team last year. They buried Quinn. He felt the pressure constantly, and the outcome was predictable.

No QB can make a difference to this team until they find some quality players to man the offensive line. Old adage: Games are won & lost in the trenches. So, what does BP do? He waits until the 6th rd. last year before drafting probably our greatest need. He & JJ & Ireland all said the same thing-"We just couldn't justify taking an offensive lineman in the 2nd rd. There just wasn't the talent there."
Pretty funny, since Andrew Whitworth has played two different positions on the Bengals' OL this season. He is currently their LT. You think our OL was better than theirs last year? How about Marcus McNeil? Oh, he's the starting LT for the Chargers. Think they had an inferior OL last year? They only blocked LT into getting over 1,500 yds. last year. But, that wasn't good enough. They had to upgrade their OL.

They know what it takes to make an offense go. So does Cinci. I say fire Ireland, BP, & JJ, and hire a new owner.....:bang2:

I'm not opposed to drafting a QB in Round 1 if he's worthy of a Round 1 pick, but can someone explain to me what makes Quinn so great? He just doesn't look like an elite QB to me, at least not in Leinart's category. He struggles for long stretches and his performances in big games (Michigan, USC, Fiesta Bowl) are pedestrian, at best.

Actually, if we pulled a Ditka we might get Quinn. Problem is that we might have more holes then we can fill in FA.

Right now I would take Troy Smith, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't change my mind. Either one, I would be happy.

i could be happy with this. not seen a "whole" lot of him but i do like what i've seen so far. what's the word on him cause i heard he was a heisman candidate/contender but he's not in kipers latest top25.

Just because your not in Kiper's top 25, doesn't mean you're not a heisman contender. Right now ESPN writer's have him leading by a tremendous margin, if it really means anything at all.

Really I don't know what people are watching. It's like if enough people repeat that Quinns the best then it must be true.

Quinn is going to be Rick Mier all over again.

Smith is better than Quinn any day.
