Look no further then the Eagles free agents this yr and see why we cannot compete!

The Eagles schooled Jerry Jones again this year. They knew Barkley would be a star for them given their offensive line. Signing Becton and moving him inside was brilliant as well.

But Becton signed a 1 year deal for chump change and I suspect he will get a lot more than that in free agency. Same with Zack Baun. He signed a $3.5 million deal, made all-pro and now I imagine he will be getting a much bigger payday.

The Eagles probably will lose some players in 2025, but they seem to get higher comp picks for the players they lose. And they also seem to know how to retool when they lose players.

He doesn't want to spend money. That trumps everything else.
I know it doesn't really matter but it appears that Jerry is the one wanting to spend and Stephen is stopping him at every opportunity. That doesn't bode well for the long term future certainly.

Eagles signed:

-Barkley-having a legitimate mvp type of season
-Baun-is in contention for defensive player of the year.
-CJ Garner Johnson-key member of their secondary
-Becton-has solidified their OL when they converted him to Guard

All they lost was Reddick and they got a 2nd rd pick for him.

We signed Kendricks and lost players like Pollard, Fowler (had a tremendous yr), Armstrong, Gilmore, Tyron Smith. Got nothing but late rd comp picks.

The Cowboys Model of just drafting, developing and signing their own just doesn't work in this current landscape. Until they change, expect similar results. This was the reason why I was pushing BB and Saban since our blow out loss to the Lions as they had the clout/hardware to try to convince the Jones Family changes were needed. Now they hire another puppet and we can expect a good team, but never a legitimate super bowl contender.
It's painfully clear that the model of just drafting to build your roster is flawed.

People would argue here that there were different ways to skin a cat and our model of drafting was fine.

It's not. It's failed over and over and over and over and over again.

Talent wins and the Eagles have consistently done a good job of finding and paying for it.

They have also shown you don't need to have a top QB to win as long as he is surrounded by talent.

BB and Saban are done in the NFL. Saban retired and Bill went the college route because nobody was going to hire him in the NFL. His agent put out feelers.

The Eagles organization is superior to the Cowboys in every way except the most important way and that is making money.

The Joneses will never change. It’s the same organization that it was when Jerry bought it. He wants to be the face of the franchise. Jerry and Stephen tell the truth. The Cowboys have to balance the books and they will resign the players they feel they need to keep. The Joneses are in charge. The more I think about it, Brian was always going to be McCarthy’s replacement they just had to sell it. He has been azz kissing the Joneses and players the last 3 years.
Wrong! The Cowboys still have the best Cheerleading squad in the NFL! Take that Howie!

Yea, but the Eagles are doomed for cap hell, while Dallas is not.

Let the Eagles compete for SB now and the future.
Not sure if this is sarcasm or not.

Eagles have 19m in cap space next year without making any adjustments and don't really have any must resign free agents. They have the space to bring the guys they want back. They do their contracts differently than we do...there is very little room for restructuring like we always have to do.

Looking at 2026 we have about 50m more in cap space with a similar number of players signed. In 2027 we have 50m more in cap space but have only 12 players signed compared to 27 for them.

So...the Eagles are managing money way better than we have ever thought of.

100% sarcasm.
Just rubbed me the wrong way Stephen said the Eagles were going to have to deal with the cap sooner than later.

They have also been kicking the cowboys butts in the draft.

In fact, I give both the eagles and Commanders find the better first round pick in the draft this year than Dallas

Not only do they do FA pretty well, but those guys in Philly seem to do just fine in the draft and develop department as well. I think Stephen Jones believes its a myth that you can actually do both.
I think he knows FA helps, he's just too cheap to use it.

Eagles have a top 3 OL and a very deep DLine w/ an amazing talent in Jalen Carter. That is why they're winning.

And they kicked the Cowboys butts in the draft by trading Wentz for a couple of 1sts. We're not smart enough to do that.

Whatever our model is hasn't worked at all in the era of free agency. Jerry calls himself the GM but does none of the work of a GM which is a 365 day a year job and requires a lot of time looking at film and watching NFL games. And even if you do all the work, you still have to make the right decisions. This is why we can't compete. Nobody is doing the GM work.
This paragraph defines the Dallas Cowboys from 1995-2025. Thirty years of a rudderless ship. Disgusting.

the cowboys model is drafting (cheaper), but when you have 2 bad drafts in a row, then this is where you end up.

I think they'll let Bechton sign with some DUMB team that doesn't realize he's a product of their coach and system. Some dumb team...like us...will pay him top dollar, only to see him revert to an average player, just like he was before his 1 year with them.

They'll fund a way to keep Baun...trust me. They just fell azz backwards into a superstar with him, but they won't let him get away.

I agree this is their window.......it's already looking like a few major changes next season
* hearing Barkley's contract
* they may move on from AJ
* The Saints are flying to Philly today to interview Kellen. Could be his job to lose

Those 2 DT's keep Braun clean, lets him flow to the ball,

In addition they are not just space eaters, they are very disruptive no matter down distance

A Eberfus DC would be more of the lightwt d.line....O.Lines to athletic ....size matters but with speed.

Kinda hard to disagree with this.
