Looking back, was Bledsoe that much of an upgrade?

Oh look, another kick bledsoe thread. I would almost think that the guy played for the Commanders with the amount of disdain posters have for the guy. Its a shame a COWBOY gets treated with such little respect from the fans.

Anyone that thinks vinny was better or that bledsoe wasn't an upgrade has to be ********. Drew threw for 23 tds last year. Vinny has only done that TWICE in his long career. Every single stat that means something was better in bledsoe's favor. Harp all you want about talent around them, but know that when Vinny had talent around him, he was only able to best drew's 2003 twice in his entire career. And yes, dont give me that "B B B But vinny never had any talent, stuck on the Bucanneers, yada yada" BS. Vinny played on some NYJ and Cle teams that had some weapons. And if anything, the OL in Vinny's last year with the boys was better than it was last year for Bledsoe.

Exactly. Neither guy was capable of leading Dallas to the post season. Put either one on the team this season and they are both the weak link in the chain. We already saw that with Bledsoe at the beginning of the season. Vinny would not have fared better.

Drew is the better QB between the two. That really does not mean that much. Just some number to throw out there. In 6 wins Vinny's QB rating was 77.4 and in 10 losses it was 75.9. Both numbers are less than average. He wasn't the main problem that Dallas lost, but he also wasn't helping the team win. In 9 wins in 2005, Drew had a QB rating of 105.0 while in the 7 losses his rating was 59.8. He played a good part in the wins and was a major culprit in the losses.

I am glad neither is the QB right now and I didn't like it when they were. It was embarrassing.

I agree with you and i am also glad that both are not with the team but i have to wonder what vinny would have done with that team last year with the weapons we hade.

Bledsoe is still with the team.

What games were that? I think the fact that Morgan and a hurt Key were his top receivers had something to do with that.

And the fact that we were starting two road-cones at tackle had nothing to do with Bledsoe's struggles? He took us on his back against KC, San Diego, San Francisco, and Philly. All but one were games where our allegedly superior defense completely layed an egg. Vinny never did that.

How many times does it need to be said, that you can have all the talent in the world at receiver, if you're not protected, it doesn't matter. All that extra talent at receiver (read: Terry Glenn) doesn't matter if there's no time. The tackles neutralized any additional offensive talent. Add the inept run game to it, and it's pretty good that Bledsoe's numbers were even the decent level he finished with. He was better. Not much, but better.

You have to wonder the line was looking about as bad this year before Romo started playing.

No they weren't. Bledsoe was far worse than he was last year. The line was playing much better, even with Bledsoe in there.

you really think so? I almost think both were playing pretty awful before romo got in there. Flo was playing poorly and the line didn't seem to gell at all.

I did not start this thread to kick Bledsoe but looking at what a QB that had never started an NFL game before this year has done with same talent Bledsoe has makes you go HMMMM.

I am sorry man but starting a "was vinny as good as bledsoe" thread is a kicking bledsoe thread.

I don't think anyone suggested that Vinny was better. Many are saying that in the final analysis there wasn't much difference between the two. Certainly not enough to get anyone excited.

Ok so are you saying Bledsoe just lost it this year?

And for the record I think overall Bledsoe is a better QB than Vinny and I was in favor of signing him but looking back I question I have to wonder.

And there's something wrong with that? :laugh1:

Apparently, a few more times. Personally, I don't agree that the Offensive line was better. The offensive line in 04 was terrible IMO. I don't think you can look at 05 and say it was worse then 04. IMO, they were both terrible. You may say Bledsoe was better, if only by a bit, but I just don't agree. I guess I just don't buy it. Were Bledsoe's numbers better? Yes. Was Bledsoe's defense better? Yes. As was his overall offensive talent IMO.

this years bledsoe was much worse- he lost it all at once. remember the first few games last season? We were thinking Drew would make the pro bowl. He was actually almost as highly ranked a QB as Romo is now; 4th or 5th in the NFL and 2nd in the NFC. Once the protection disappeared he went south a lot. But he still was playing better even then then he did this season.
Vinny gave everything he had- BUT he could not stand the pace game after game- by the 4th QTR his legs were dead and you could see it in his passes.
There really is no comparison- Drew was much better LAST year- not this year.

Only if you think Bledsoe cannot be open to discussion.

Makes me go HMMMMMMMM? Romo is absolutely kicking *** and is putting up numbers BETTER than ANY NFL QB not named Peyton Manning. You fault Bledsoe for not putting up comparable stats with the same talent when other NFL QBs, many of which have talent equal to or better around them and have been to multiple probowls cant do the same on their own teams? Hahahahaha.

I agree..........this was the longest, meaningless ramble I have experienced in my hundred years!

05 line after flot went down was much worse. Pettiti tried but he was out matched. Rivera stank. Al Johnson was manhandled. and LA was on fumes.
04 Flot was decent and LA ok; Johnson played better and Gurode was better at Guard the Rivera was the next season. And Vollers was better at RT then pettiti. Not be much, but some.

Apparently you missed the "or that bledsoe wasn't an upgrade" part. Either you can't read, or you conveniently left that bit out. Im pretty sure it isn't the former, so I'll go with the latter.

not when the guy you are comparing him to is vinny sleazy vinny.
Is drew in his prime as talented as romo in his prime is a better thread than comparing him to vinny.
