Looking back: Was it a mistake not to go back to Romo

In retrospect yes it was a mistake to stick with Dak. But at the end of the day we don’t know what would of happened. Dak played well against the Packers. Probably would of lost either way.

Romo sucks if he is compared to the same standard Dak is held to by diehard Romo fans. Not sure if they figured it out but when they come up with reasons why Dak sucks, we can take those same reasons and show how they apply to Romo as well. They actually make Romo look worse by trying to defend him with the crap they pull out of their ***.

4. Romo wasn’t even allowed in early game planning meetings until Garrett had to relinquish play calling duties
5. Dak had an all-pro line that Played together a minimum of three years and has had a top 3 OL and rushing game, that allowed Linehan to completely simplify the offense, which used plenty of play action, for Dak from the very beginning. They were top 3 in play action usage on Dak’s first year. Unheard of for the Cowboys play calling.
6. Jerry started to have Romo basically a coach in 2013-2014 with his input and that’s the roots of the current run heavy offense.
7. JG kept interfering in 2013 With Callahan, until Jerry finally banished him and brought in Linehan so Dallas didn’t have to change the terminology on offense.
8. Frederick was picked because of Callahan and Romo and this is when Jerry started revamping the interior line. Jerry himself said that he asked Romo about Frederick.

Let’s see what happens now. New staff. I actually worry more about the new Defense scheme then the Offense. Dak can hold his own with this Offense. Give us a descent ST. I better see better than 8-8 or 9-7 season. New staff may get a certain amount of blame for a bad season. But we have a lot of talented players.

Apparently it has been forgotten how physically broken Tony Romo was in 2016. His back was terrible. I’m not sure he could have played even a half without getting hurt again. In his day, TonyRomo was a special player. But by 2016, he was damaged goods. Tony Romo’s time was up in 2016. If had anything left in that tank at the end of 2016, some other team would have signed him in 2017. He was done.

Agreed. If he had played longer, he would have been in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

But that was the worst pass defense Dallas had played in the playoffs in 25 years....and maybe ever.

And we got them at HOME

Scoring 30 points on them at home was the absolute floor as far as expectations.

They gave up that much and far more 5 out of 6 weeks in one stretch that year.
So no, 300 yards (much in catchup mode) was nothing special at all vs that bunch.
And a red zone interception was not great either.

Still, Ive never blamed that loss on Dak. Just don't think he did anything special either.
Do I think Romo with Zeke et al puts up more? Only if he stayed upright the whole game.
But we dont know that for sure.
If so, I think 37-45 was very much possible vs the 30th ranked pass D at home.

this is the best reason to play romo that game.
Dallas was in a unique situation , they had 2 starter qb's .

So as to which one to play, it should have been the one that matches up best against that opponent.

I thought Romo matched up best against GB, And if they played Seattle the next week, I might go back to dak for that one.

But dallas used football mentality, to make the decision, they thought they had to pick ONE , and then make him king,
and never play him again unless their guy dak gets knocked out of a game.

They wouldnt even bring tony in when they got off to a horrible slow start , down 21-3.
So they deserved to lose that game by being so stupid as to make a decision based on football mentality.

Other teams do the same thing, but sometimes they do stray from it, but basically they make a decision based on a stupid philosophy,
then are afraid to do anything else.

If Romo had gone on to play instead of Dak, there's a fair chance he'd be sitting on a wheelchair right now. That was something that most of us agreed upon when it happened. This was really a silly thread at the outset. Both Tony and Dak are doing quite well now. Let's just be thankful for that.

I wonder how things would have played out in 2016 if Romo got his job back once he became healthy.

Perhaps he could have taken the team all the way to the Superbowl like he almost did in 2014.

Perhaps Romo could have played one more season and Dak would only have 2018 and 2019 as being a starter for this team. His value would most likely be worth less because 2017 was a down year for Dak.

Perhaps he could've got re-injured and Dak would've stepped back in only further proving Romo's durability issues.

But to this day I still think Garrett and Jones did Romo dirty by not giving him his starting job back.

Romos body was done a season before Dak started. We just werent prepared because this FO does not invest in the QB position.
