Looking for a job, need ideas

Everyone should have at least one ****ty manual labor or "service" job in their lifetime. My family is replete with spoiled nieces and nephews who've never worked a day in their lives.

I had a few growing up. Some I wish I never had.

Thanks for all the idea's, I did not consider Barnes & Nobles or Best Buy, so i'll apply to both of them.

I already sent app's to all the fast food places, but I doubt i'll get hired.

Look for small business offices around where you live. Most of the time they are looking for file clerks or something along those lines.

I worked in a grocery store for 9 stinking years. I had a good time and learned some good lessons.

If you like to be busy and up and moving around check out a grocery store, just dont be a cashier.

Whats the problem with being a cashier?

You are the means of production.

Produce something.

Me, I'd be doing something odd to put on a resume that gave me a new skill. Like basket weaving. Troll your local worthless stuff, craft-type stores to get an idea of market price and sell your handmade baskets for less than that. Knock those other basket weavers out of the market or at least cut into their profits. If they're old, retired women, then... oh well.

Dealing with pissy customers all day. Standing in spot for hours on end.

Touching the money that comes from people's filthy hands.

Take your pick.

*** pennies!

The alternate meaning of *** being donkey, but three characters. Google it.

Food and money bring out the worst in people..

I was a cashier at most of the fast food places I worked. Some days were better than others.

I was also a bank teller. That's another position that I can see me never doing again. Working with money is one thing, but some people can be very rude when trying to deal with their banking issues.

It is going to be a tough summer I know a lot of business that bring in summer hires from HS and College to do work are not doing it this year. With the economy the way it is they are not going to spend the extra payroll.

Some places are still doing it so you can try the Big companies around your area they hire summer kids all the time to work in an office

Never worked as a cashier or bank teller but I have some friends who used to do that. I've heard some horror stories. A bank teller has to be one of the worst jobs because people arn't patient when it comes to their money. Seems like most of the bank tellers around me are pretty clueless anyways. They go by the book 99% of the time and never just use common sense.

Well I don't get angry easily so that should be a non issue for me.

I do. I'd probably go tell the customer to go **** himself. I can't stand customers lol

That's because in this day and age we must refer to tham as 'apprentices'.

Humpers and gophers hurt some peoples feewings.........

Wendy's starts you out at $9.50. 'Customer Service' position(s).......
Really? Man, we always called them humpers on the sites. It made for some great jokes and the kids always enjoyed it from what I could see.

Construction sites are hardly PC. So the world may not call them that anymore, but I bet most sites still do.

So I guess jumping to the conclusion you are a construction worker is fair?

How is it?
