Doesn't matter who starts. It's a RBBC setup this year.

He is already losing that starting gig......Randle looks good

I agree.. Randle showed patience and vision at the RB position.

Maybe the Cowboys are just trying to send Randle a message right now.. Playing head games with him.

I thought Randle looked much better than McFadden, hands down. Even Gus Johnson made a better showing.

McFadden got what 2 carries and caught a pass. With a back up OL and no game plan. Randle played with all backups against a team that blitzed all night. Randle had more chances than McFadden, and had some decent runs. Game plan and a starting lineup, see what both can do.
Not to mention the starting WR out also. So no threat on the outside, no Witten. so yes, they could blitz and key on the run.

Randle whiffed on a blitz but he was still the best RB on the field last night and it wasn't even close.

Listening to the post game show and the comments from Jerry, Broadus and others around Valley Ranch, that it's McFadden's job to lose. They just trust him more in pass protection.

How many are genuinely excited about that? To go from Murray now to McFadden, a guy who has terrible YPC over the years, only carried it 200 plus times 2 times in his 8 seasons. Can't stay healthy.

We are going from filet mignon last year to Taco Bell this year.

Which will have a big domino effect on this team.

Randle was the better back Sunday night. He does a good job sifting through the blocking to find running lanes.

McFadden showed exactly what I believe are his primary problems. He doesn't run to daylight, shifting to find where the hole actually is, but instead will run into blockers and defenders when all he had to do was make a cut to pick up a few more yards. And he doesn't have good balance. His forward lean allows him to deliver a good blow if a defender tackles him high, but it also makes him vulnerable to just falling down or being tripped up fairly easily.

Now, granted, this was just a small sample size Sunday, but it just confirmed what he's previously showed.

McFadden can start all he wants. Randle will get the majority of the carries.

I still think Dallas will be fine with Randle and McFadden as thier lead backs. Whether you like it or not folks.. This is a RBBC approach that I believe the Boys wanted to do last year with Murray and Randle. But Murray proved to be more reliable last year.. That's not an indication of Randle this year tho. If we are to believe young/promising players will improve every year, then we have to have faith that Randle will be a good back for us. Murray got better every year he's been in the league, so I can't debate that way of thinking on the FO's part.
Its real easy for people to discount McFadden bc of his stats the last few years, but nobody's stats in Oakland have been awesome. Without saying his name.. If I was to tell you Dallas pickup a big RB that can pass protect and has first class speed.. Everyone would be on the bandwagon. So give the guy a chance to run behind our First class OL before bashing him. Please.
And I'll state.. I'm still on the "Bus"-wagon.. Gus has done nothing but play well during his time in camp. I like the player and am hoping for another Undrafted success story from Dallas. #GoCowboys!

hahhaah dumb post, Latavius murray showed he was miles ahead of DMC last year. Mcfadden had no burst whatsoever, thats why they didnt bring him back. As for Randle hes ok but how many carries cna he handle and isnt good in pass pro. Murrya will end up being a huge loss bc hes a phenom 1 cut runner which is perfect for our style of offense.

Randle looks to be the better runner for sure but Mcfadden is by far the better pass protector. Usually in these situations the pass blocker wins out.
I don't think we can rely on either of them. I'm already missing Murray big time. Opposing teams no longer have to worry much about our run game.

I don't know if McFadden has anything left. I am doubtful, but he is my only hope of getting close to the level of production of Murray. I may be completely wrong, but I view Randle as probably a little bit above average backup running back. I just don't see it. I thought he ran well last year but I think he is an 8-10 carry guy at most. I also worry about his blocking although to be fair he hasn't been asked to do this a lot. Maybe just maybe, you catch lightning in the bottle with McFadden. It is a dicey proposition to be in though. I would be ok with Randle and McFadden if we had another young back or a guy we could count on to give some additional stability to that position.

Yes, he has the lost art. There are times when you hit that gaping hole and there are times when you gotta wait a little and he does that really good. He is also very shifty inside and he may not have Murray power but he can hold his own. Also, he had the one holding call in pass protection but other than that he was pretty good at blitz pickup.

Is it me, or did SF send a run blitz on the first two plays? Heck I would have.

You've got no Dez, Witten, Beasely, T. Will, and are facing only 2 of the Cowboy's starting OL. Add that to the fact that we have shown all season long last year that we like to "establish the run early", and there was no reason a DC wouldn't sell out to stop the predictable run.

I don't have great confidence in McFadden as a runner, but I don't think he really got a chance to show anything on those 2 runs. If that had been Lynch, he probably could have gotten a couple of yards out of it, but there didn't seem to be any "daylight" to speak of for McFadden.

Randle looked very good outside of his backfield duties. I would have liked to see more of Hill (he took everything their D gave him), Malena is not good and Gus showed a little more quickness/wiggle than last week.

That is pretty much my point and what everyone has been saying. Randle is the better runner but he's terrible protecting the QB and picking up the blitz. You think they will give him the nod with Romo and his back issues? They don't trust him to do that.

Which also means when he's in there, the defenses can key that it's most likely a run play.

I really can't believe that with our team this close to a Super Bowl for the first time in a long time, they let the one guy who really changed the dynamic of this offense and in effect, kept the defense from being exposed, we now put that in the hands of these 3 guys. Which all 3 of them combined don't even measure up to Murray.

Romo is not effective when he's asked to revert back to slinging it all over the field. He needs an effective run game.

Cowboys have taken a risk at RB and on special teams. We will have to wait and see if the rewards are enough to make the risks worth it.

I am concerned about both areas as our special teams hasn't looked so special this year. You can't judge the RBs completely without all starters on O as a healthy starting O line and Dez bringing a double team can open a lot more running room. But the injuries and pass protection concerns are troubling.

The uncertainty will make the season all the more interesting! Maybe if we can just keep our guys healthy by the first regular season game, we will have smooth sailing. Pre season has been tragic for a couple teams already.

Well with that being said you can't judge special teams being the 53 isn't assembled and those kick and coverage units are a mash of bodies some of which wont be in the nfl in a matter of weeks/days.
