Must be seeing if he can get above market value
His market value in terms of money is probably set. I'm thinking he's trying to get a 2 year deal instead of the customary Jones favored 1 year deal

He is probably hoping he can drag it out until after training camp. Dallas probably isn't offering a lot for him due to him not having a huge market so why not drag it out and miss training camp. His comp probably won't be better signing early.

The translation to me is that Jerry is stepping in, Hankins is too important to our structure to lose because of Stephen’s low ball haggling.

If you look at the contracts offered to the depth guys, they a seem to universally be the same across the board.

There is no guarantee this happens still. Hankins won't take the lowball offer.
