Looks Like We Have 10 Roster Spots to Fill

I like his willingness to tackle and he's just a good dude. He wasn't amazing you're right but you can never have enough good character guys who wanna hit

I want good character guys on the team as well. It's not worth it to bring a great talent who is a locker room cancer. But being a good guy isn't enough. You want smart players too. But they also have to beagle to have enough God given talent to make a play.

We need smart, right kind of guy who has the talent to actually play. By all accounts Church was a smart, RKG with marginal NFL talent.

Lost or ain't coming back:
Carr, Mo, Wilcox, Church, McClain, Leary, Dunbar, Free, Escobar, Sanchez, Gachkar, Romo, J Crawford.

Gained: Carrol, Moore, Paea

That's 10 spots to fill 7 draft picks and UDFA here we come. This team is getting younger and younger.
ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION........................OR IF YOU PREFER IN A VISUAL FORM..........

Don't know if Geoff Swaim and James Hannah will be on the team. Swaim who just had surgery. I'm guessing one of them will. Hope Rico Gathers can make the roster.

Man.. Our D is going to be much worse.. Not a SB contender at this juncture.

I know right, a month before the draft and FA not even done, roster cuts havent happened, and yet we shouldnt even play a game next season. Sounds a lot like posts last season.....SMH

Come on man. The secondary was the best part of the D last season. Blowing up the best part of your defense doesn't sound like a winning formula.

Now, going into the draft, the secondary because even more of a priority than DL.

i counted from the salary cap website, we have 48 real roster players if you include Moore the new DE
you cannot count romo, and when he is gone would be probably replaced with Moore the QB.
you probably did not count the players on IR like tapper and jaylon

This is my count also, that I keep track of on my spreadsheet.

48 signed, plus one tendered offer for Irving.

We have 7 FA's left.

We also have 14 to 19 Reserve / Futures contracts, depending which sites out there were correct at the time I updated my list.
So possibly the roster is 62 to 67 players.

right - essentially there is almost no room left for any more signings if you count draft picks.
may be 1-2 more if you account for injuries.
but that would basically mean no udfa's.
with the massive turnover in the dbs, i suspect that is unlikely.

But FA is done overall. The buzzards are picking at the bones.

Don't know about that. Dontari Poe didn't get a contract until what, yesterday? Wouldn't have minded bringing him in on a similar deal to what he signed to with the Falcons and we actually need the DL help more than they might.

We can sign another 23 at least to get to the 90 limit.
7 draft picks, so a combination of 16 UDFA's and other FA's. Possibly up to 21 if the other 5 I have listed aren't really on the RF list.
We usually sign about 10 to 15 UDFA's, depending on how many roster spots are open. Then a few here and there released as other FA's signed.

I keep seeing this narrative repeated over and over.

Take a look at this list and you tell me what is left that we would A) afford and B) even want.

Keep in mind how much we seem to be allergic to veterans as well.

Leary is the biggest loss. Too bad the club lost both starting corners! Should have taken a shot at keeping Carr. He was slightly above average but at least reliable. The off season has been a big surprise so far!. I hope the FO is working on something big.

he never missed a game due to injury.
church missed very few.
Leary was good and worth keeping imo. If he was a #1 round pick they would have kept and paid him lol .

That would ease some anxiety, that is for sure. But I think that idea is just about as dream worthy as thinking we will get a bunch of picks for Tony Romo.

Jerry will get right on this right after his "Romo project" is completed......however, he may have to extend Romo's contract to have enough time to facilitate a trade at the rate he's going.
