Noone around here is forgetting how good LA was and strong LA still is. But he wasn't coming back this year with a 7.5m cap #. Wasn't. Coming. Back. Even if LA had agreed to accept a max 30% pay cut (which he wouldn't) his cap # still would have been around 6m which is way high for the 2005 version of LA.
I find it hilarious HH that a) you can't seem to move on beyond your LA man love and b) you seem to enjoy taking gratuitous shots at the guy that actually does play for the Cowboys now before he's even missed a single block. Weird.
I'm not saying we were going to keep him, I'm saying LA was, is, and always will be better than Kyle Kosier. When Larry Allen is 80 years old and sitting in a nursing home, he will still be a better offensive lineman than Kyle Kosier
Some things to consider:
In his worst season in the NFL, Larry Allen still made the Pro-Bowl for the 11th time. In Kyle Kosier's best season, he didnt even start every game
Larry Allen was and still is the strongest player to ever step foot onto a football field. Kyle Kosier's most famous play involves him getting bulldozed by and OLB half his size. Larry Allen couldnt be pushed down by Lavar Arrington if he wanted to be.
Larry is the best guard to ever play the game, maybe the best offensive lineman to ever play the game period. Just like Jerry Rice was better than 75% of NFL WRs at age 40, so to is Larry Allen still better than most guards in this league, certainly better than Kyle Kosier.
I'm not saying they ever considered keeping him, I'm saying they should have. On a team where offensive line is your biggest question mark, you dont just release your best offensive linemen. Kosier being cheaper wont help us win more games.
