Out of curiosity why are there so many posters here that cannot grasp that concept and argue ad nauseum ridiculous points. This may actually be my favorite site overall for the value it has and the info it conveys.
I think a couple of posters really just like squaring off against each other. I can understand that. I like a good scrap as much as anyone. Still, the best part is the sheer grasp of History of the team that some can share. Recalling poignant moments from just the slightest hints.

I respect the DFW writers for the service they bring to the fans. There is no doubt that the access they have to the team cannot be matched by most of us. However, I dislike the bent they have towards sensationalizing things to get reactions. That bothers me. Just report on the team. When there is nothing to report, give us a feel good story like the one about Jim Myers from a couple of days ago.

I would really like the DFW media to give us an update on Ron Springs. They haven't updated his condition in over a month. I personally would like for them to realize how important he is to us. I don't think they do. They remember that he played for the Cowboys. They remember that his teammate Everson Walls donated him a kidney. I remember that in 1979 in Roger Staubach's last regular season game he caught a pass and fought his way into the endzone to set up Roger's eventual game winner to Tony Hill. I doubt I am alone. The man matters to me, and they report nothing to us.

Even if there is no change, tell us that. It beats wondering.

Interesting enough your post about Walls the other day caused me to reminisce about his playing days and how I thought he was going to be a liability for a while. Boy did he prove me wrong. Your post also left me wondering about an update on Springs and Walls also. Maybe one of the beat writers will read these posts and let us know. It would mean a lot to me also.

Everson Walls is hopefully answering our Q & A questions soon and I'll post them. I've invited him to check out the site. I really hope he will.

I have been a fan since the early 60s and feel kinda sad for the younger posters here. They missed a lot of great moments and the shaping of NFL history. I am a Bob Hayes homer and wish the younger members had the opportunity to witness his greatness first hand. Most just don't understand that he may have changed the game more singlehandedly that any other player in history. I feel bad for those who only know him as a fast guy from the past.

That would be great. Any chance you can get him to post some of his memories from the past?

Can you imagine him in today's pass happy offenses? Holy cow.

I hope so. 3 other Cowboys legends have also been invited to the site.

Can you say who they are and what the chance is of them posting? The only bad thing is the possibility of negative posts from those that don't seem to know better. You might want to give some free books to them and I would love to have a copy autographed by some of the old greats. The 90s teams were great but the oldtimers are my heroes.

He is probably still better than Reeves.
You're right, but he never had Reeves' speed.

I posted that one just for you, Eduncan. ;)

I actually meant imagine Bob Hayes in today's pass offenses where the DBs can't touch him after 5 yards. He was scoring double digit TDs with physical DBs. They had to create Zones to stop him. With the lay off rules for DBs I don't think even Zones could stop Hayes.

You are spot on in this thought. He was just born a generation too soon. I would trade both the Cowboys first round picks for him in his prime today. It is just too bad the posters born too late never got to see him. He is my fondest memory from the early Cowboy years and shall be my avatar on here as long as I am a member.

Reality is...all-pro and pro-bowl arent the same things.
It was a typo on my part .. glad to see your only issue was with my mistaken wording rather than the actual content.

I think we've had a VERY good off-season signing two 2007 PRO-BOWL players, a former multi-PRO-BOWL and multi-ALL-PRO player along with a very dependable long-snapper.

You mean the stories we rip apart and find fault with? ;)

Actually I was referring to the posters who understand the cap and its ramifications, have an eye for talent, understand the different layers of the game and can recognize the 30 yard slant.

I knew what you meant.

Actually, there are probably quite a few more posters here by my estimates that give pretty good posts and that I get differing views that make me rethink some old topics in a new way.

After watching pro football for 40+ years, you think you've seen it all and heard it all. Especially if you are a Cowboys fan.

Dallas fans have gone the whole circle going on three times with Landry, Jimmy Johnson and now hopefully Wade Phillips in getting to the top from coming from the bottom.

What a ride and for fans that haven't been fortunate to witness it all..they have missed alot.

I think one of the things that really makes this site standout is the number of posters that came over from the old Dallas Morning News Cowboy Chatrooms. I came from there and the standby posters from there, minus the legendary bashers, have gravitated here.

So I'm betting that many of those guys populate both of our lists of prefered posters here.

Thanks for the reply.

I never had that much faith in the Gosling to begin with, so statements like his are little more than marsh gas to me. I mean, when the guy admits to picking the home team because he's tired of hearing the criticism of his past picks, how much stock should you put in him?
:D
