failing to put what together? You said the loser had no chance. Now your saying the loser has no chance if OK State or Stanford go undefeated. Why didn't you say that in the first place?

Because I was basing my statement off what is likely to happen, not accounting for every single possibility imaginable.

I don't think both OK State and Stanford lose.

And even if Stanford does lose, their loss will likely be to Oregon which puts Oregon at a 1-loss, only to LSU.

I just don't think the loser of today's game has much of a shot to go.

This is their shot at a national title and both teams know it. It is kinda like the basketball tournament where one loss knocks you out. Do you think the winner will mind not having to play the loser again? I doubt it.

Except for in a tournament, one win means you move on as well whereas the entire NCAAF season guarantees nothing.

It's a stupid system. I can't believe anyone would try to defend it.

It is a bad system, but giving a stupid argument does not help defeat it. A one loss team will not make the NC game when there are 3 undefeated teams ahead of them, it does not matter who they lost to.

This is the game in which Richardson will prove why he should win the Heisman Trophy.

Obviously a tournament is the best solution but how many teams do you let in? Do you use the polls to select? I'm watching the 7th and 9th ranked teams play and I wouldn't want either in a tournament for the title. Do you have a selection committee choose? Only conference champs? LSU or Alabama would still be left out.

Losing to LSU would not mean that Alabama is a worse team than either Stanford or OKST. And LSU losing to Alabama would not mean that LSU is worse than Stanford or OKST.

Regardless of the outcome, neither Alabama or LSU should be viewed any worse after the game.

Of course, that's just rational thinking. Only in a popularity poll would the #2 lose to the #1 (as one would expect given the rankings) and automatically get knocked down to #4, #5 or #6.

You'd have to do away with all sort of committee or ranking based on polls or favoritism.

As long as the same system as voting for HS prom king and prom queen is used, the same problems will arise.

Only in a popularity poll would Alabama and LSU be ranked #1 and #2 outright. Neither Stanford or OKST have done anything to qualify being worse than Alabama or LSU. After today's game either Alabama or LSU will no longer be in consideration for being the best team in the nation and will fall in the polls.

And what has Boise and Houston done to be left out of your post?

It's hard to listen to Verne and Danielson, even time outs are better in the SEC.

So you think that Boise and Houston should be right up there at the top as well?

You are changing the subject, this has nothing to do with the loser of the LSU/Bama game deserving a second shot at the title.

Either you think that all undefeated deserve an equal shot or not.

I think it's relevant. If you don't want to answer, nobody is going to force you to. Just curious as to your stance on the matter.

Well up up until that int, the most boss thing about this game had been the classic uniform battle...

I'm loving the defensive backs on both teams. Hopefully at least one of them will be a Cowboy soon.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but a couple of observations...

LSU CLEARLY has better athletes...

Alabama CLEARLY has better coaches...

This has to be one of the worst called prime time games in the history of game calling, good grief.

More to the point, LSU has a FG kicker, Bama don't.

Yeah, the guys in the booth sounded borderline brain dead at times.

I heard one guy try to blame an INT on a low snap because the QB had to look down to get the ball. Like QBs never watch the ball into their hands on good snaps.
