I’m really hoping we take a TE with our first pick. I would prefer Kincaid but I’ll take any one of the top three. A chain mover and a playmaker. If we can improve on Dalton Schultz, who was a good player, it will end up being a very good pick.
Yeah the Cowboys have a plan for the offense. I don’t get the board panic. Dak needs a good tight end.

You know I have Kincaid higher, but really like Mayer. We are on the same island as many hate Mayer at 26.
I like Kincaid, just want a complete TE that can also block like a champ in the run game. Not a pass catching TE in the first. I would love Laporta in the 2nd.

With the departure of Schultz, TE is a need. The Cowboys wanted him back and offered him a nice contract, which makes me believe they’re going to look very hard at TE with their first pick. I get that our young TEs have potential, but the jury is still out. If one of them doesn’t step up we could be in big trouble. If Dak is going to improve over last season he needs a security blanket and a chain mover.

I agree, but Kincaid could be really special as a receiver, Kelce like.

Starting to see this rumor pop up. I’m very high on this player. I thought we could get him in round 2.

I actually like him better than Mayer because of his upside although I admit Mayer is a more polished player today.

in the past 10 years have those talking heads gotten our pick right? especially down this low in the draft. there are going to be some people really upset when this does not happen.

I think Laportas blocking is underrated. I think he’s a solid blocker.

I think Mayer is an overrated blocker if anything.
Mayer is a better blocker. You'll struggle to find a scouting guide that suggests otherwise.

Watch LaPorta play. Then watch Mayer. Then try to convince yourself LaPorta plays faster. He doesn't. So if Mayer's lack of speed concerns you, then watch LaPorta play and see that he plays at the same speed as Mayer. I read a handful of draft guides on LaPorta and a consistent theme is that game tape shows he doesn't play to his testing numbers.

Our guys/gals nail it mostly. Taco, Hill, LVE, Tyler Smith, Sam Williams to name a few. We knew the pick hours before it happened

Maybe. But lets not forget who Kelce has throwing to him.

And IM more concerned with what THIS team needs. THIS team needs an all around TE that can also help in the run game.

If I wanted another pass catcher I would just take a WR. Besides, Mayer can make catches as good if not better than Kincaid or any of these other TE's.

TE offers the biggest immediate impact that is why it's being discussed so much. Great class with legitimate, high-end talent.
Look at who McCarthy has drafted in the past, and you start to see who the pick will be. He picked Bubba Franks his first year at Green Bay, if that makes sense.

MM wasn't apart of the drafting process with GB. He had no say who they were going to draft.

I agree, Mayer fits like a glove what this team wants to accomplish, being more balanced and run oriented.

More importantly the play of Shultz. He was very average last year. Shultz left lots of plays on the field last season. It’s okay to do that when you are playing on a 4th round contract but when you get a 13 million dollar tag you got to play better.

I get the love for Pitts a few years ago. I don’t get the love for these guys in the first:…..
To be fair the love for Pitts was "this is a top 5 worthy pick talent" where the guys mentioned in this thread are more of "first half of day 2 or good trade back options."

The problem last season was we had very little passing game with Cooper Rush, which had a big affect on Schultz. Schultz didn’t do much those five games plus he was battling an injury. Even CeeDee wasn’t that impressive early on when Rush was in the lineup. Schultz really came on when Dak returned and so did CeeDee.

Yeah I read Jimmy Graham comparisons. He's fasted than the other fellas too. Sounds good to me.

If we draft a tight end at 26 he better be Travis Kelce on DAY 1 opening night SNF vs the Giants
Wow. You must hate the tight end position if the only reason to take one at 26 requires them to be equal to the best tight end in the NFL
