I'm not sure what you guys have missed and how this is new to you he just wasn't getting the targets he has always been able to catch in traffic he doesn't create a lot of separation but he's being targeted because he's not a superstar from the second round it seems like a waste because he's just a blocker but every time they throw the ball to him he catches it again he may not create a lot of separation but the more confidence he gets he just looks better but he's never been a bus he's never been bad I don't get what you guys were seeing he's a good compliment to Ferguson the more they give them snaps the more he proves he's worth being on this team and stop tagging these players by where they were drafted they can't help it but he made the team and I believe he's gonna have a nice role here...

This is not shocking and this is not new they keep saying they're waiting waiting for what you mean like waiting for Rico to have 100 yard game whose fault is that we all know where this comes from Turpin Rico and guys like scoot maker all have a problem because our offensive coordinator is not created the ices our own players he never uses the hot hand and keeps sticking with it feed them the ball that kind of thing this is more of a Mike McCarthy issue then it is a player issue we would have seen more of him if one we had a better offense that was more creative into an offensive mind to call the plays and get guys into games I mean people didn't see him coming because he wasn't used...

Hopefully he breaks the 2nd rd curse, especially with the TE position, the Cowboys are currently in.
What are you talking about a second round curse you mean like Trayvon diggs? Tank ? Just at tight end is that what you're saying 'cause everyone who keeps bringing up that the second round seems to be bad for us you might wanna look at the total history of the second round recently like going back 10 years plenty of quality players have been taken there... but of course this place always harps on the negative.

The reason scared maker has looked good is because he hasn't been utilized properly he hasn't been used almost in any way and that can go to the same reason Rico look like just the average player when he could have been much better just like Turpin is hardly using the offense there's one name you can blame that would be Mike McCarthy oh wait a minute 2 names Mike McCarthy head coach Mike McCarthy offensive coordinator the most uncreative old school play calling and visionary I've ever seen....

I have been patient and rooting for Schoonmaker since he was drafted. The Cowboys like to focus on 1 TE while turning TEs they drafted into invisible men. Now that he has a chance to get some targets he looks okay. But he reminds me of David LaFleur. No much run after catch potential, at least nothing I have seen so far.
Now I hope Schoon can improve his run blocking.

I actually wish we'd play more 2-TE with him and Ferguson. Instead of making Schoon block all the time, let it be more balanced between the two with who is going out and who is blocking.

You want to get your best players on the field, and I'm not sure he's not better than our third WR. That was even more true when Cooks was hurt, but I'd still do this some. It wouldn't hurt the running game, either.

Looked this up , I am curious where o find what the DC have done so far, this year with utilizing these groupings ie how many times so far? sure its old school most of ter triplet 90s Os were much of the offense. Garett liked it but WCO this version im not sure.

In football, 12 personnel and 13 personnel are offensive personnel groupings that refer to the number of running backs and tight ends on the field:
  • 12 personnel: One running back, two tight ends, and two wide receivers
  • 13 personnel: One running back, three tight ends, and one wide receiver

Personnel groupings are used to identify the combination of positions on the field at a given time. The number of wide receivers is inferred based on the fact that there are 11 offensive players on the field, including the quarterback and five linemen.

12 and 13 personnel are often used in a run-heavy, physical style of play. 13 personnel is often used in short-yardage situations because of its heavy nature. However, it can also be used to throw play-action passes because there are still pass-catching players on the field.

The defense typically counters these personnel packages with a base defense, such as a 3-4 or 4-3 alignment.

We have never successfully used two TE's. You would think with our WR group this would have been a priority.

We were told he was struggling or a bust. How many number 2 TE's have we seen sit and or struggle in Dallas and end up being very solid in once they actually get to play?
You need a very good QB to use 2 TEs successfully.

I’ve thought since he was a rookie that we should have been doing more to get him in games.

All he needed was targets. And now finally healthy.

He was projected to be a project.

And people are surprised that he's taken time to develop.

Go figure. All y'all obsessed with the draft but never seem to have read a single scouting report.

Not sure who does that. Guys like Bob Sturm will discuss that on a game-to-game basis in their postgame articles but I don't know about for the entire year.

I do think they've run two TEs a pretty decent amount, it's just that with Ferguson in, Schoon was usually the designated blocker, and that isn't his strength.

It would/will be interesting to see if they try it and how things are different with Rush in there, though.

Yet we insist on drafting them. It's so stupid we can't figure out how to utilize these guys consistently.

i don’t typically like to down our players, but a second rounder playing league avg for two games in his second year isn’t worth hyping up

Seriously, don’t get why we can’t do more 2 WR, 2TE sets considering our WR aren’t the best and our TEs are actually pretty athletic.

This.....and most forget he was hurt last year. To the point it was a surprise he even made it on the field.
