Mac Engel emailed me back about 'ring finger' saga

So Engel is lying? You know where he was when the guy yelled it all 3-4 times and you know for a fact he heard it?

Ok. If you hear a guy yelling, but can't directly see him, can you be like, "the sound is coming from the right of me...so he should be to the right of me?" Yeah, you can. Unless the guy was throwing his voice, but I doubt it. :laugh2:

The guy yelled it, and it garnered some chuckles from people throughout the room (granted, not loud laughter, but more like muffled laughter).

I'm saying that if I'm in the back and I can hear it, Engel should be able to also. Maybe he couldn't, I don't know. I'm not his ear.

I'd like to see if anyone has the audio or video. The audio would most likely have picked up the guy yelling about ring fingers, and the video probably would have had Wade look at the guy in acknowledgment as he repeated the line.

I guess so because I missed reading the part where I saw a link to the video of this event which would be the evidence I need to say Mac Engel is lying.

:bang2:

Again-there are a couple of posters here who attended that clinic AND have said otherwise.

Why don't you take their word?

Now he was yelling for the entire world to hear? Classic Theo, LOL.

So now the one or two posters on here are more reliable sources than Mac Engel. LOL.

As for the posters, I belive you guys whole heartedly and I also believe Mac Engel.

I wasn't there so I will never know what took place. Unlike others I just don't think the media is driven by the devil.

And LOL how can you believe both of us when we're saying the exact opposite things.

I understand that Mac is generally a more reliable source than me. But this for a fact I know. There was a guy not named Wade Phillips in the group who yelled multiple times, "Get your ring hand ready".

Don't believe him. Don't ever believe a word of the evil satanic media.

They can't speak the truth without the intention to deceive, distort and destroy. They know the truth but misuse it to cause confusion and disobedience.

I have to tell you, this paranoia and hysteria about the media has met new heights. It is like a bunch of pathetic chickens that cackle and squawk "mediots!" every time they either disagree or don't like something that is reported. It is also amusing that anyone who has a negative opinion or something that just doesn't sit well suddenly is painted as someone who is lying or has an "agenda" (the most overused and worn out word on this forum).

Tears are streaming down my face. That was a beautiful, long overdue beatdown.

Do you really have to take everything I say to the extreme to make some point?

And don't you realize that you're doing the exact same thing as you accuse us of doing.

Actually, I wasn't even addressing you in this thread. In fact, I don't even recall specifically addressing many of your posts, let alone "taking everything you say to the extreme".

Are you saying I have an agenda against you and I might not even realize it?

I'm saying that your posts about how people saying Engel is wrong are way off to the extreme.

Considering that I'm one of the apparently 2 people on this board who saw what happened (and I also disagree with Engel), one would assume that your posts were directed at me.

Either way, your media sob stories stink of William Randolph Hearst.

That guy is in love with his voice and himself. But he seems to have changed a little bit. Not so edgy and seems the others are coddling him. I still don't like him but he does have some original info at times.

Were you there?

You have the account of a person who was supposedly sitting right next to this obnoxious person and another who described where he physically was, in the back of the room.

But even with that level of detail, he's lying. Correct? He's sitting there, musing over dcfanatic's inquiry wondering how he can cover his butt? :laugh2:

I have to tell you, this paranoia and hysteria about the media has met new heights. And honestly, what if he did embellish his story? So what? Apparently the bitterness comes from the fact that some imbeciles lack the capacity to think for themselves, expect the media to be fair and biased and think "facts" are the name of the game.
The problem is Engel has a history of -- to put it lightly -- embellishing. He puts out the eye-catching statement to only later semi-recant. It's not the first time and it won't be the last.

Some people just demand more out of journalists. Glad you're happy with shotty journalism.

You know what my guess is? If you've even seen the media hanging around training camp, you know how little they pay attention at times. Mac was probably at the back of the room bored with the coaching clinic and yukking it up with someone, and his ears perked up when he heard Wade say it.

So maybe the guy at the front was loud, but Mac was paying so little attention that he didn't hear him. :)

And to what you said about our little debate, DC... Forget it! I H8T U! :laugh2:

Honestly, I could care less about this whole overplayed scenario, which in of itself has been made more dramatic by a defensive fanbase that is so concerned about the media "lying".

In general, there is a distrust of the media that is engrained in the board culture here. Every time there is good news, suddenly the media is trustworthy and noble, or at least benign. Bad or negative news, they become mediots, the minions of Beelzebub.

Except when the media praises a player like Amendola, then there's the whole "zOMG the mediots are stupid because they think Amendola looks good in mini-camps and say he's the next Welker!!!!!111"

It works both ways. You just like to see it only your way.

It's just information and I am capable of processing it and formulating my own conclusions from it. I don't have to like or dislike it.

While I do agree that we (and the American public in general) are skeptical of the media, I do think that some actions of the media (including this one) don't help.

Yeah, there are times when the media is right and we don't like reading negative things. But there are also times when the media just searches for a story, like this one.

No, actually I don't think that much of him. Just used him as an example of people criticizing the media for praising a player. Apparently it's okay to criticize them when it fits your own beliefs. Who knew?
