Or when JJT defends Greg Ellis. ;)

I don't even think Taylor "lied" about Greg Ellis. He's never made any bones about the fact that he was fond of him, so again that's where you can take what he says with very little credibility.

In regards to this whole overblown situation, is there legitimate proof that Mac Engel hates the Cowboys or wants to set up Wade Phillips to look foolish? Maybe I have just missed his Skip Bayless-like machinations.

And LOL how can you believe both of us when we're saying the exact opposite things.

I understand that Mac is generally a more reliable source than me. But this for a fact I know. There was a guy not named Wade Phillips in the group who yelled multiple times, "Get your ring hand ready".

You and this Boysboy guy both need reading lessons.

I believe you that the guy was yelling. I believe Engel didnt' hear it.

Engel isn't saying it didn't happen!

I don't think anyone thinks Mac Engel even remotely dislikes the Cowboys. It's just the sensationalism.

People here hate his wife with a passion, and he's caught in the crossfire. End of story.

No, the point is the whole underlying meaning behind this.

Is this an indictment on Wade or Engel?

I could care less about Mac Engel. I haven't read any of his articles, and I don't know anything about him. All I know is that he apparently didn't hear something that was easy to hear. Whatever.

The point is that many people on this board jumped on Wade for just randomly saying "get your ring finger ready", calling him cocky, unprepared, marshmallow man, whatever. The point is that he WAS egged on, and him saying "get your ring finger ready" in the first place isn't a big deal at all. You'd think that SOMEONE in the media would've videotaped this so you all can see the evidence of what happened.

No, actually I don't think that much of him. Just used him as an example of people criticizing the media for praising a player. Apparently it's okay to criticize them when it fits your own beliefs. Who knew?

Amendola basically got the Rudy Ruettiger treatment from activity from an OTA. That also classifies as "embellishment" but it is positive, so most view that as "exciting news".

I read one of JFE's articles (which apparently was one of her best, because I actually liked it) and none of Mac's articles. It has nothing to do with my hatred for either. It has to do with the fact that so many people went crazy on Wade for saying "get your ring hand ready".

I certainly never said any such thing.

I do think that he didn't try very hard to get or explain the whole story, though.

Maybe there is a grainy Zupruder-like video that will show this heckler. I wonder if he was a lone heckler, or if he had an accomplice. Possibly Engel was the accomplice.

whatever.

you're missing the point. I have nothing against Engel. I'm just saying that Wade didn't say this out of cockiness, and he even went on to state that the Cowboys had a tough road ahead of them and that they'd have to accomplish the lofty goals they'd set.

So what I am led to believe is that Jen Engel heard the guy chanting but Mac Engel didnt? Are they not really that close to one another, because I find it hard to believe that a married couple wrote a story on the same topic and did not discuss the clinic before writing their story or even talk about the story with their spouse while writing it.

Because while Coach Wade may have been joking, prodded on by a coach chanting likewise in Monday’s luncheon crowd, he said what everybody thinks. He had better deliver on a ring for Owner Jones in February — and, no, they do not make 13-3, bye-week rings — or he is going to be so bleeping fired. And rightfully so.

And the board was flooded with criticism of the embellishment as well, claiming he was being overrated. Like I said, it works both ways.

I'd be as far away from her as possible myself.

If Mac's last name was "Smith," this would be a non-story.

Not really bbgun, any reporter that creates or omits news to make a more sensational story is due a good bashing, while I cant stand Jen Engal, I have never had a bad thing to say about Mac Engal that I can recall. Most times he is a good journalist and responsible in his writing. This is not one of those times IMO.

I don't ever remember having anything against Mac Engel or JFE for that matter.

However, the story is ridiculous. The reaction over all of this is ridiculous also.

You're implying malice of forethought, but I see no evidence of that. The worst you can say is that he got the context of the quote wrong--very plausible if he was out of earshot of the front row. And since the quote didn't make Wade look buffoonish in any way (though perhaps cocky or arrogant), I don't see what the big deal is. I don't even think Wade has complained.

To a lot of people here, they're a package deal. The "sins" of the wife are visited upon the husband.

Well, considering I was just disputing the belief that he said it without someone yelling it at him, I actually never read the article.

Although Engel incorrectly believed that Wade said it randomly, I really don't see any venom in his article at all. A non-story. I dont' even think he was criticizing Wade.
