You're implying malice of forethought, but I see no evidence of that. The worst you can say is that he got the context of the quote wrong--very plausible if he was out of earshot of the front row. And since the quote didn't make Wade look buffoonish in any way (though perhaps cocky or arrogant), I don't see what the big deal is. I don't even think Wade has complained.

I havent really complained either, I think the reaction by some fans is far worse than what was actually said or written.

As for forethought, as I said his wife heard it, maybe they have a poor marriage or dont communicate, but I find it personally hard to believe he didnt hear it but she did, and they did not discuss it a bit while writing their stories.

To a lot of people here, they're a package deal. The "sins" of the wife are visited upon the husband.

You have the account of a person who was supposedly sitting right next to this obnoxious person and another who described where he physically was, in the back of the room.

But even with that level of detail, he's lying. Correct? He's sitting there, musing over dcfanatic's inquiry wondering how he can cover his butt? :laugh2:

I have to tell you, this paranoia and hysteria about the media has met new heights. It is like a bunch of pathetic chickens that cackle and squawk "mediots!" every time they either disagree or don't like something that is reported. It is also amusing that anyone who has a negative opinion or something that just doesn't sit well suddenly is painted as someone who is lying or has an "agenda" (the most overused and worn out word on this forum).

And honestly, what if he did embellish his story? So what? Apparently the bitterness comes from the fact that some imbeciles lack the capacity to think for themselves, expect the media to be fair and biased and think "facts" are the name of the game.

Are they not really that close to one another, because I find it hard to believe that a married couple wrote a story on the same topic and did not discuss the clinic before writing their story or even talk about the story with their spouse while writing it.

Just because they're husband and wife doesn't mean they consult each other on their stories. They're professionals so I wouldn't expect them to do so.

I didnt say consult on their stories, I said talk about the clinic or even what they are writing. I find it very hard to believe they do not discuss work ever.

Especially a quite like "get your ring finger ready" VERY VERY hard to believe that didnt come up in convo

I could care less about Mac Engel. I haven't read any of his articles, and I don't know anything about him. All I know is that he apparently didn't hear something that was easy to hear. Whatever.

The point is that many people on this board jumped on Wade for just randomly saying "get your ring finger ready", calling him cocky, unprepared, marshmallow man, whatever. The point is that he WAS egged on, and him saying "get your ring finger ready" in the first place isn't a big deal at all. You'd think that SOMEONE in the media would've videotaped this so you all can see the evidence of what happened.

Oh there is video. DC.com has it and the edited version they put up on their site is only a portion of the speech.

Nice try, but Mac's article came out on Tuesday the day after the event.

LBOH's piece came out on Wednesday a day later in which Mac already says he got a few emails on the matter. Plus I think it was dicsussed on ESPN radio about a coach yelling this to Wade.

I don't even think LBOH was at the clinic.

Nothing about this debate means anything until the playoffs are over.

If we win it all, everyone will be slapping him on the back congratulating him on the prediction he never made.

If we lose, everyone will be slapping him in the face (after Jerry slaps him with the pink slip) saying that he should have kept his mouth shut about the prediction he never made.

Either way, at least we know we'll have this wonderful argument to resume next February.

I don't know about that.

Dcfanatic was just defending Mac saying he didn't hear what the coach said. If this is true and Mac didn't hear what the coach had said, then I wouldn't say he's a bad journalist (although apparently there's a radio interview that i haven't seen).

Well, yah, I don't agree with that and making excuses for "jap plays".


IMO, "jap plays" is much worse than anything that can be considered "cocky". And Wade's comments were not cocky.
