Cut Adams...Trade choice or barber...cut hamlin.....that is all

Tell me this: Why do you want to trade away one of two perfectly good running backs? What do you want in return that would equal them? Realistically.

I think we needed all three of them last year.

I think Adams has become vastly underrated by virtue of so many throwing him under the bus for so long, and I like the fact that Jerry acknowledges Flozell's level of play this season was very good.

I also like the fact he seems to be looking ahead and asking himself whether we can expect that same level of production from an aging tackle. It's a legitimate question. Jerry has typically blindly avoided such questions in the past. I like that he's not afraid to ask it now.

We should have traded up last year when we had all those picks for a premier LT but oh well, hope one falls to us this year...

IO missed the quote saying Jones was considering cutting Adams. I see where they quote changes will be made but the Adams part is just more stirring the pot that the mouth breathers are eating right up.

what is it with you people who are always so "scaraed" of moving on...like we are putting HOFers in our rear view mirror. We were scared to cut TO, we were scared to bench/cut Anthony Henry, we were scared to cut Greg Ellis....this is the NFL. More often than not, youth rules the day. It is not about whehter or not Flo is the best option for a couple of games. He is old. And as the season wears on, SO DOES HE and ALL OTHER OLD PLAYERS. You cannot get ALL the way to your destination by getting OLDER. These players we could not "live without" had help us win exactly what? I think the Colts started a rookie LT all year last year...protecting the blind side of one of the best to have ever played the game. If our offensive coordinator, QB, WRs, RBs etc...if they all get a little better. It will help protect Free as he adjusts to starting in the NFL. We are NOT going to face a top 5 team every week...he is NOT going to face a top 5 pass rusher every week. He will get BETTER as he gains confidence and plays more. Doug Free MUST start on the OL for the Dallas Cowboys next year. Period. What will squeezing one more year out of Flo accomplish? Especially when you KNOW that is ALL he has left at BEST.

I don't like the idea of flat out cutting a prime position player on a squad where we already lack depth.

Let him and Free know the starting spot is open for competition.

Draft offensive lineman.

Then, in 2011, if the team is comfortable, make the move.

If we drafted two OTs then I can see a reason to cut Adams. But drafting two is stupid. Draft one and let him sit behind Adams. Free is the swing tackle and is just as much a necessity as is Adams.

To cut him THIS year would be stupid. Maybe Free can play LT well- MAYBE. It is VERY doubtful that he can play it as well as the Hotel can NOW.

We need to get in at least one and preferably two new tackles in this year and work Free's rear end off. Find out how good he is. Get those new tackles starting to develope. BUT KEEP ADAMS.

heres what I hoping happens - trade Choice to SF get Iupati

we got Free at LT

then draft one these guys

OT
Jason Fox, Miami
Height: 6-6. Weight: 310.

Jared Veldheer, Hillsdale
Height: 6-9. Weight: 321.

Tyler Eastman Maine
Height 6-6 Weight 325

Derek Hardman, Eastern Kentucky
Height: 6-6. Weight: 305.

OT Tony Washington - Abilene Christian HT – 6 -6 WT – 311 5 round

I like your thinking, especially the first two draft options....better to let a guy go a year early than a year late.

I think Dallas will be drafting a LT with the 27th pick...

I still doubt it, unless a guy lands there. There's a good chance the best guys would be gone. If they think Free is the future at LT, then they won't draft one in the first unless one of those top teir guys is there, otherwise they may take one in the other rounds.

It would be a very poor way to approach the draft thinking, "We have to get a LT with out 1st pick, no matter what."

They wont do this unless they have more options other than Doug Free.

Also by cutting Flozell that would just give the Commanders a quality Left Tackle. Something they don't have.

where was the part about them considering cutting Flo? I mean i'm sure they're weighing there options but that article had no quotes or even a "a source close to the Cowboys told me" talking about releasing Flo. But if they do I guess Doug Free it is.
"I was very pleased with his season. Certainly that’s the question mark. That’s when you have decision to make right there – can you get another year like that out of him?"

He doesn't actually say that he's considering it, but when he refers to a decision, it seems pretty clear what he means. Perhaps it could be construed as an answer to a question about drafting a LT, but I would guess that was more an answer to someone asking if Flo would be back.

Perhaps the coaching staff thinks Adams is teetering on the edge already?

I saw a guy who was slowing down. I think he hits the wall this year. He's always getting little injuries (which are always used as an excuse for mediocre play), and maybe Jones doesn't want to give Flo a $5M severance check. There were times when only Romo's athleticism kept the opposing team's passrush from completely overwhelming the Cowboys, and Adams was a big part of that.

Something is to blame for the Cowboys' offensive failure last season. Yes, it was a failure. You get 400 yards on average and only score 22 points a game, you failed. The OL needs some serious work, and Flo is as good a place as any to start.

And it's not our $5 Million on the line. If the Cowboys' revenue is $250M or $300M or whatever it is now, $5M is not an insignificant chunk of that, especially when it's one player you may not have a lot of confidence in.

Keep him. Why cant he be a back up? I dont care how much he makes in an uncapped year. If someone gets hurt i want Adams coming off the bench before some rookie we drafted in the 3rd round from some small college in the mid west.

It makes zero sense.

This is not a monetary issue. It is not even a performance one.

He is still capable, and at least as capable, right now, than what we have or are likely to acquire in the draft.

If you are worried about him being a "progress stopper", open up his job in camp or bench him. This is nothing like the Ellis and Owens issues last season where we had exciting talent ready to push out and the veteran was a disruption to boot. Free looks good, but we have nothing else at either tackle spot.

Cutting him would be a completely irresponsible manuever at one of the more crucial positions on the football team.

I fail to see the positive.

Because it's not the uncapped year that the team should be concern about, it's the years after that.

Besides, it would be disrespectful to FLO asking him to be a back up. He's played too well and represented the Cowboys magnficently, to disrepect him that way.

Why should dallas be concerned about the year after the uncapped year for a player already under contract? I'm not understanding that point. You keep him and get one more year out of him. If his contract is an issue next year then cut him or make him take a pay cut.

So asking him to come off the bench at the downside of his career is disrespectful but cutting him isnt? That makes no sense. Believe me Flo knows the reality of aging in the NFL. He wants the 5 million bonus and the salary. He doesnt want to start over with a new team at a veteran minimum salary. That is disrespect. Asking him to be a team player and earn the starting job is not.
