Madness

I see your reasoning behind your position, but to say that no other owner intrudes and come within the football operations business more than Jerry, there are several owners that completely are in the same boat, look at the obvious, Al Davis, and some other teams, the Bucs, Lions, Cardinals who have the completely opposite way of conducting business, and look at how successful their football history is with their current owners. Sure the Cardinals and Bucs got to the SB, and one won it, but to me it is worthless if you don't have the history or the formula to form a solid team for years to come, with BP, Ireland and now Ciskowski, I think that we are strong unless Larry Lacewell and Jerry Jones are running the drafts. Basically I see it as half full because of our current roster and the possibilities with the talents we have in the front office, SJ working with contracts and the last of the salary cap and Ciskowski drafting quality players.

I am giving Jerry one year, two if we show improvement and change that he promised, before I start making trips to the Valley Ranch and start mooning him on a daily basis. I like the way the roster is setup, I just don't think that the coaches are in place for the Cowboys to be Perennial playoff teams, like the Pats, Steelers, Colts and Chargers.

Well, since I can remember watching and caring about them since the loss to the Colts in 1970, I don't think I missed 1988. I don't agree that we were a laughing stock in the same way we are right now. I don't agree at all.

I already said, I'm not talking talent or record, I'm talking the absurdity that IS Jerry Jones, and his circus.

At least we still had Landry and we had Tex Schramm. We had people in place on a leadership level, that EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE PAST THEIR BEST YEARS, they still had respect.

Jerry Jones, without his money and marketing, has ZERO respect on a football level. I will say it again. Take away Jerry as owner and NO ONE hires him as a pure GM. NO ONE.

But, that is really an aside. What got this thread started is Jerry becoming the "lone voice" of the Dallas Cowboys for the moment.

My challenge is still out there. Can anyone find ONE, just ONE, professional sports franchise that has muted everyone else in the organization, including the head coach, or manager, depending upon sport. I want to know another team where the head coach is under "the rules" not to speak to the media.

I'm waiting.

Are you assuming Wade is not on board with this? If there is a person(s) in the organization then this is an effective way to stop it. Just shut it all down. Of course Jerry is not going to say this. He's taking the heat. I really doubt Wade or the asst HC is upset. It could even be one or both their ideas.

Good move Jerry. Stops the front office, janitor, coaches and players from mucking it up.

I don't see it that way.

The damaging stories that came out were always from 'unnamed sources', never directly attributed to a coach or player.

Therefore I don't know how a public gag order will stop 'unnamed sources' from talking - and then denying that they did.

And if Wade Phillips can't handle the scrutiny and pressure that comes with being the head coach of the Cowboys, he should step down and announce that he's now simply the defensive coordinator - like he really is.

That way they can go ahead and hire Shanahan this year instead of next and save a wasted season.

That is my perspective as well. If Wade doesn't want a job he needs to have, perception wise, then that is another problem.

I'm in a leadership position in what I do and I can tell you that some of what I do I don't enjoy, but I still needto do it. It goes with the territory. And if you don't want to do it, then find something else to do.

I doubt Wade cares either. He's just glad to still have a job. Guys like Switzer and Campo didn't care too much when Jerry ran roughshod over them either.
