Wait man you have no issue bringing back bernie AND livings as starters? :lmao2:

I wanted to draft at least one guard, preferred Warford in the 2nd over the TE but its done...

Like it or not we have a contract with these guys and I just don't see Jerry making to many more moves. My only hope is that because they were both playing injured they aren't as bad as it appeared, not to mention it was their 1st year in our system.

I believe (Hope) Fred sures up the center spot and these guys gel and get it together. Just trying to deal with the reality of our situation but the way I see it this is the best we have at the moment....

Still praying for a free agent RT.......

Jerry loves those type of fans. Some people still buy into his spin.

You are wrong about your perception of me but then again you're the one in denial about what the coaches/scouts/pundits already know..

I'm glad they're going to play Frederick at center. This team needs a big, strong, mean, smart guy anchoring the line. Plus, Callahan value's the center position big-time and it is important in his scheme.

Personally, I think Frederick is going to solidify the whole line and his anchor strength is second to none. The guy is a mule.

I can't think of a much better first round pick for this team. He has everything Dallas needed inside (and I mean that both literally and figuratively speaking).

My starting 5

Smith|Frederick|Costa|Mack|Parnell

But i wouldnt be mad if Mack unseated Costa if Kowalski can get back to form. Mackenzy looked really good playing center

See, this is a much more reasonable post. There's a difference between accepting what we are stuck with and trying to spin it like injuries were the problem with the line last year.

Unless thats your way of making yourself feel better about a crappy situation. ...if so then spin it anyway you have to man, we all cope in our own ways.

Are u saying injuries weren't a part of the problem with the o-line last year? You do know 4 out 5 had some kind of injury and our backups were also injured? There's no spin u are just reading more into it then what it is buddy.

I'm not satisfied with our o-line but it is what it is..
You can find a few posts of mine Pre-draft saying I'm tempted to spend the first 4 picks on o-line...

This organization still doesn't get it.

And by 'get it' I mean, agree with a handful of teenagers on a sports message board about jettisoning everything and doubling down all available resources on OGs.

I do wish they'd bring in Brandon Moore, though. I wish there was an affordable RT out there I liked as much who was familiar with Callahan's OL.

Frederick has to play Center,he was drafted to be our Center and a scrub like Costa should not hold him back.

A very small part. Maybe it would have turned them from terrible to just plain bad, maybe. Highly doubt it would have equated into any more wins though. Besides, injuries can't be an excuse in the NFL. Every team and every player deals with them. Only the teams that lose go back and use it an excuse.

The line was severely lacking in talent. That's why we had 0 running game and Romo had what was probably the worst year of his career so far. Injuries or no injuries. You can't sign a mediocre cast off and another teams backup and call the problem fixed. Even when healthy those guys have proven they can't consistently get the job done.

Costa is a hard working guy, but can't handle large nt/dts. The same problem with berny. We had the second worst running game in the history of the cowboys. This have to change/ the talent has to be upgraded. Fredrick will start at center because he can handle the big nt/dt one on one, he can set a pocket and hold his ground ( which tony needs desperately) , and he can move people off the line of scrimmage. Tony had two picks on screens that cost us games because we couldn't run for 2 yards for petesake.

Costa was literally picked up off the ground by powerful DTs and thrown back into Romo's face last year.

How the hell does "playing together with a healthy Livings and Bernardo" fix this?

You really thought the running game problems were with the OGs? I put most of that squarely on the C. Cook did an admirable job under tough circumstances holding up in pass pro in the middle, but he was a mess in the running game.

Bernadeau was a wreck early at RG. He did get a lot better after he was in the lineup a few weeks. I still think he's a relatively weak link, but he did have a significant surgery, and his TC was a mess as a result.

Livings, I thought played pretty well all year. Up until we got to the BEN game, where he was just ragdolled by one of the most underrated DTs in the league. Overall, though, he played fine under the circumstances.

RT was a mess for 10 games last season. LT could have been stronger given the resources we've invested there.

All that said, though, our offense really gelled at about mid-season and started playing well. People are forgetting how the season went because of the way the Saints and Commanders losses at the end of the year played out, but we eventually put it together enough on offense to be dangerous. It was just that, at that point, our defense had taken on way too much water with all the starters going down. We weren't quite able to overcome. But this team showed a lot of heart, and it played games differently from how we played them in the past.

The OL was an obvious area for personnel improvement, but it wasn't nearly the liability some posters here want to try and make it. And it was weakest at C and RT, not at guard.

Roll my eyes at the idea that the offense was so good at any time last year. Romo was playing out of his mind at time- like he did in 2011- and THAT is the main reason the offense was doing pretty good.

That IN SPITE of the O line.

You somehow expect romo to play like god all the time. Guess what- NO ONE can keep up that kind of pace when he is on the run half the time and NO RUNNING GAME to take up the slack.

he is.

He really believe that the 4 JAGS are going to suddenly become the Line of the 90's because they are healthy.

Since when has any of them except maybe Free every played really well at any time in their entire careers for more than a game or two? Costa, Livings, Bernie have never been much at any time in their entire careers. Yet he thinks that SUDDENLY they will.

How does "Hope" equate to knowing these guys are going to be all world? I see reading comprehension is not your strength...

Carry on...

I'd rather have Costa at center and Frederick at one of the guard spots over Livings/Bernadeau at both guard spots. I can't wait until those retreads are gone.

Frederick is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too slow to play guard

I really would not be shocked seeing Costa at Center and Frederick at Guard. Like most my first thought was he would go to center but if Costa can show the same abilities he did in the Balt game then I could see a scenario where Fredrick would be starting G next to Tyron Smith that could really strengthen that side of the line.
