UnoDallas: you should try actually following the Cowboys if you are going to comment on them.

Some teams have systems where they have a one back system where one running back runs the majority of plays and usually ends up with a ton of yards because they get a ton of carries.

Some teams have systems where they utilize multiple backs and spread the running game around and keep different backs fresh and use in different systems.

Apparently you are under the delusion that we are the first type. But anyone who follows this team knows we are the second type. And in that second type, it does not matter who the running back is, he is not going to rack up a ton of yards because they do not get enough carries; the carries are spread around. (Which is why Turner would not have the same yards he had in Atlanta: he'd have about 33%-40% fewer carries.)

Here's a hint: this is by choice, not by necessity. We have elected to use a runningback by committee approach and have 3 contributors. It is not something we do because Barber can't cut it. It's a preferred approach.

Barber did not have the best season, but (again, if you actually watched the team you would know) he was hurt. It happens. Hopefully he will not be hurt this year.

But to go off on him because he hurt and because he is not a full-load primary back is ridiculous on your part.

(Also, please try responding to my post only 1 time and not 3. It makes the discussion flow better.)
All of that is irrelevant to Barber's putrid 3.7 yards/carry. It's not like he only comes in for short yardage situations. Last year his yards/carry was 3.8 on first and second downs. Compare that with Felix Jones' 8.2 ypc on first and second downs.

Maybe you missed the part where Barber was injured.

So was Felix.

If they both would have been healthy, our running game would have been much stronger last year.

Anyhow... want to talk about putrid? Why don't we talk about your P.O.S. pathetic little franchise and how they get absolutely, routinely dominated by us despite how awful you think Barber is?

Hey, quick math question: which is more: 5 or 3?

Maybe you missed the part of this thread where someone said that Barber's ypc was 3.9 before he got injured. And he's hardly the only RB out there playing injured. But I understand wanting to change the subject since you have nothing to contribute to this one.

I think I pointed out earlier that his YPC was 3.9 prior to his injury. It was 4.0 prior to Felix's injury.

So neither of those issues really explains the massive YPC drop.

What DOES explain the drop is that he was no longer made the majority of his runs against defenses that were worn down. Not having that guy ahead of him taking the bulk of the game's first 10-15 carries is what hurt his productivity. Many folks on this board have said it before. MBIII is a good bad who was put in situations that allowed him to look great. We gambled that he would have those great performances as the starter. So far we've lost that bet.

No, I'm fine discussing Barber and the fact he had a down year last year while playing injured throughout the year. But I'll be damned if someone who cheers for that POS franchise comes in here and piles on my team, because, quite honestly, you clearly don't know **** about football if you follow that inferior franchise. If you did, the least you could do is hazard some sense of honesty by saying something like "Yeah, I admit that the Commanders have been an inferior franchise, but I was born here, so I cheer for them anyway." I could respect that.

And 3.9 before injury is what Portis has averaged as a Skins a couple of times, so you probably ought to hold off for calling it putrid.

Barber was injured all year last year. He had to leave the Cleveland game in the season opener with a rib injury which was reinjured in the Eagles game and never really got healthy all year, especially after the toe injury. He was hurt all year.

Look, Barber had a down year. The entire team did. Barber was injured, and that was unfortunate. The line also was hurting with the loss of Kosier and without a good backup. There's no doubting these facts. I personally think he will come back; maybe I'll be wrong.

But it is ridiculous to write the guy off after one freaking injury-filled down year.

Who said he was being written off. The initial post I made was that IF he had another year like 2008, he'd be gone. You can cite the ribs if you want but honestly, if he can't stay healthy as the starter then that's a huge problem.

I don't think Dallas will actively seek to trade Barber, Choice is a more natural trade option.

I will bet my left nut Choice is in Dallas longer than Barber. I think Barber may already be gone if it were not for his contract and injury last season. I think Choice is more of an every down back.

and that you don't judge a rookie back on limited carries.

the league catches up to them.

you didn't learn the most important thing.
