That's fine. But I don't really take your opinion that his game translates best as evidence that there are no contenders to the #1 WR spot.

BigDave, is there a link of some sort? I can't find anything else reporting that Kelly didn't run. Not saying I don't believe you, but I'd like to post this elsewhere and without a link I can't.

Maybe i'll earn some cred with you when he ends up being the best receiver out of this class.

When it comes to the draft im money.

No. Sorry. This is all coming from text messages from a friend who's at the Pro Day.

He also said that Curtis Lofton improved his 40 time from 4.77 to between 4.65 and 4.67. And Allen Patrick ran around a 4.48 which they feel good about for a power back.

I wish Allen Patrick was a little bigger than 200 lbs if he's going to be a power back...I still like guys like that on my team. I think that guy is a going to be a huge force on special teams from day one.

Hes going to make someone incredibly happy in my opinion.

He hits the hole hard and if there is yards given then he'll take them every time.

The "power back" line came from him. I was not impressed with Patrick at all. As an OU hater, I was glad every time Patrick carried the ball because it meant it wasn't DeMarco Murray. That guy is AMAZING.

I'm not sure why he isn't running but I don't know where this idea is that he is slow. Now maybe he isn't running cause he is slower than the advertised (I've read some things on him about his OU career that says he's a 4.45-4.5 forty guy, which is pretty good, to me, considering his size).

I wish he'd have run though, at least once, to see if he is indeed at least the 4.5 guy that I've heard he is. If he's at least a 4.5 guy I'm still as high on him as i ever was.

Of course, and I'm not saying he can or ever will be this guy, Jerry Rice most certainly wasn't the fastest dude to get on the field but he was more than fast enough.

Murray is great and he was only a freshman this year.

Yeah, I like Patrick, too. He's not incredibly talented, probably a 5th or 6th rounder at best, but he plays awfully hard. Wonder if character concerns knock him down, though.

BTW, good stuff, BigDave.

Jerry Rice usually was one of the fastest dudes on the field. Too much has been made of his supposed 4.6 time, even Gil Brandt has stated that the Cowboys time on Rice was 4.40; but I do agree that a 4.5 time is good enough for Kelly at his size(if he can run that) though he also needs to show good times in the other drills.

The irony I always find in some of these 'Pro Day' workouts is how they work so tirelessly to get these Draft Variables as attractive as possible yet will they ever reproduce them on the playing field when the whistle blows?

I could see Jackson and Hardy both being taken ahead of him.

...and this is why I call you Mel Kiper. :lmao2: :lmao:

If a team took Jackson or Hardy before Kelly, whomever has overall control (like an owner) with the organization should can the draft decision maker immediately. Malcolm Kelly is far and away, without any question, the best receiver talent in this draft. It's not even close.

I was told that today by someone who works in the Oklahoma athletic department.

He also said that both Malcolm and Reggie have scheduled private workouts in mid April in Arizona.

"Kelly and Smith will work out for the NFL on April 9th. Kelly had a quad tear. Smith a broken toe. Per WWLS!! 40 times are critical--I will try to be a little more understanding in the future."

Reported and actual is about as similar as your aunt and uncle...It's one argument to make that some WRs can still be amazing without blazing speed and yet another one entirely to assume his 'reported' time is accurate.

Many people know that I am a huge Oklahoma fan. I even made it to a few games last year. I have talked to literally hundreds of fans and I have not heard a single peep of what you are claiming about Reggie.

Gotta make a call and see if I can find out what happened to Reggie.

I hope you're right. I thought he might be good prospect to eventually replace Hamlin or RW.

Let us know what you find out.

Yes, and Chis Johnson will be better than McFadden. We've heard all of your cooky ideas before.

And I doubt Jerry Rice was working out at Athletes Performance in Arizona for a month before the draft...working on track techniques. The Jerry Rice was slow so other WR's could be slow and good is one of the worst arguments that keeps popping up. He was plenty fast.

Anything under 4.55 and Kelly is fine. He'll also need a good sub 7, three cone because I've heard some questions about his agility. My concern is that he doesn't get either one. He's never been a burner and the scuttlebut is that he's waiting as long as possible to run because he's expecting to disappoint.

I agree with you 100% but I will say this.

Desean Jackson is not a finished product. Hes been dominant in Highschool, and he was dominant in College.

He is raw but he is much further along than Ginn Jr was.

If Jackson has the heart and desire to turn himself into a Steve Smith type player he might just do it.
