No, but we can trade one of our firsts this year for one next year and hope our 2 firsts next year are enough to get him; wash, rinse & repeat as needed.

I think Kelly will have to run eventually, or he won't be the first WR taken. Honestly, I'm not sure he's better than Jackson. Say what you want about Jackson's size, he can flat out stretch a defense.

I don't know why Reggie not showing up to the pro day is a big deal to most people. If he's not healthy enough to workout, what could he possibly have to gain by going there? I'm sure he's at some training academy in Florida or Arizona, so I don't know why he'd want to come back to OU just to interview with teams. Not being there doesn't reflect negatively on him at all, especially if he already has a workout already set-up in the future.

But if he's dumb and especially if he's lazy, I don't want him at any cost.

I do think he's probably athletic enough to play corner for someone, though... Maybe I'm wrong, but he was their punt returner and I thought he looked pretty good doing it.

Back to the point, though... Don't take any unmotivated and unprofessional players. Period.

I dont know where these reports are coming from.

If Kelly and Smith were unmotivated at OU then I sure as heck am glad they never were motivated as a OU hater.

I think if anyone within the organization is spewing this garbage its because neither guy played in the Fiesta bowl vs West Virginia and its not those guys fault their coaching staff is horrible and Stoops has turned that team into Chokelahoma.

Smith was an outstanding player for OU. Without him their secondary is with the likes of Texas Tech and such.

Malcom Kelly is the best pure receiver in this class. If he is unmotivated and played the way he did with the crapola that team ran out there at QB for 3 years then he will be even better than I can imagine in the Pros.

I'm even more concerned about his agility and his three cone time.

Are you on Crack........

Three cone time.......

That is just plain nuts. If the scouts can't tell how good a player is then it's a teams fault they bypass them.
All of the combine tests are known factors and most players practice them for 4 or 5 months to get ready to impress.

I was just talking about Smith, Catch, not Kelly. And that's just if the reports are true.

But I don't doubt them that much, because he looked too talented to not be any more highly regarded than he is.

The kid is a CJ like talent and our draft choices in the near future will be of the very late kind, so our only hope would be trading for additional 1st choices with our current "excess", since I'm not sure he will declare next year (he'll be a jr. IIRC) you would have to repeat the manuever trading your 1st in 2009 for a 1st in 2010.
comprendes Mendez?

Kelly at #28... I would do that.
I think he's going to Buffalo regardless. However, if he's on the baord at #22, the Cowboys need to field calls for someone looking to move up. His measurables are impressive, and his '06 season was phenomenal, but I just don't believe Kelly is a #1 WR for reasons I have argued before.

By that logic, why even hold the combine? Cancel all the pro days.

Scouts and teams CARE about those test results They aren't as important as game film but they are a piece to the puzzle. They're just another factor in the evaluation.

Kelly is not a burner. He never has been. He's more of a big possession receiver and that's fine. No one is expecting a 4.38 so a 4.45-4.55 is just fine. But if he throws out a 4.7 or something it's going to make teams re-think him.

And an even bigger question about him is not his long speed but his short area quickness. Will he be able to beat the CB off the line and get into his pattern. That can mostly be determined by game film but I promise you scouts and teams are interested in that 3 cone time and it will factor into their decision.

I agree

I think we drafted Demarcus Ware more on his athletic ability more than anything else.

Wait if the guy shows up (Kelly) but is injured still how is he gutless if he can not run that is an injury concern and if the injury has not allowed you to train properly and you go try to run you can pull a hamstring or aggravate something else then what

Its a gutless move until your the guy with millions of dollars at stake.

I can't fault a guy for doing what he thinks is best for him.

Ware like DRC was a 3rd round prospect from a small school till he WOWED everyone at the combine!

What's best for him mihgt be the best for US since I'd LOVE nothing better then to draft him at #22!
Then trade down for Atlanta's 2 ealry mid 2nd's for our 2nd and #28 picks and select C.B. Charles Godfrey and R.B. Jamaal Charles and that would be a great day one!
