Malik Jefferson - Headed to Texas

There are a lot of pretty good football players in play for Texas. As was mentioned, Daylon Mack (DT), Damarkus Lodge (WR), Kris Boyd and Hilton Holt (CBs), Saso Jamabo (RB) and Kyler Murray (QB). All look as though they have heavy interest in Texas. If Boyd or Holt don't sign, there is news that Georgia Commit Deandre Baker is interested in flipping to Texas. If Saso decides to sign with UCLA, Chris Warren (Son of NFL RB and former Cowboy Chris Warren) is said to be ready to sign with Texas. There are also rumors that LSU commit Nick Brossette (RB) has expressed interest in signing if an offer is extended. Lastly, Kai Locksley who has been an FSU commit since early on is also very interested in flipping to Texas. If Murray decides to go to A&M or MLB, Locksley could be the QB who Texas signs.

Going to be really interesting.

Daylon Mack just tweeted a pick of himself in a Texas Jersey flashing Hook'em.

No confirmation yet.

I feel like these guys are trying to put together a "recruiting dream team" of sorts, because they're all checking with each other. Daylon said a few days ago that he "didn't feel Texas.." and now he's quite possibly switched? I wouldn't be surprised if it's because he knows that some guys are coming alongside him.

But, recruiting is all well and good...now develop the players. That's where Mack and Co fell short.

That's not where Strong will fail. Charlie Strong has made a career out of recruiting players who are not 4 or 5 star talents and developing them into good strong players. If he starts recruiting big time talent, look out.

Rumors on A&M boards that Murray has already informed Sumlin that he is signing with Texas. No idea if any of them are true or not. I guess we'll see.

If I'm not mistaken, that tweet was sent just minutes before Mack's in-home visit with Strong. Hard to say if it's just one of Daylon's tweets that don't mean anything or if he's trying to tell you something?

Not huge on following recruiting but I thought Irvin committed to Auburn.

Daylon Mack had cancelled his last minute visit with TCU. #LetsRide #HookEm

Hope it holds... ODucks are paying him an in-home visit next week...

Supposedly Wed. That would be the 3rd. Paperwork has to be in by the 4th I believe. That's not much time but stranger things have happened.

I think I'd read that Oregon would have been his first choice if it were close to home. Well, logistics haven't changed, but I could see him being a perfect fit in that offense - and a Mariota Heisman and championship appearance are a pretty nice resume to present to him.

Kyler recommitted to A&M yesterday, which may take Lodge out of play. Hopefully they can close the deal on Locksley.

Locksley is a really interesting kid. I think he has better Pro potential but I also know a little bit about his Dad. He was the HC at New Mexico for awhile. The kid has a lot of talent if his head is screwed on right, he could be a nice prospect.

I think a lot of people are forgetting about a kid already in the fold in Jarrod Heard. Was pretty much ranked as highly as Kyler last year, and he has a red-shirt season under his belt. I think he'll be as good on the field, if not better, than Murray would have been this season. Long-term, who knows, but I'm ok with Heard.

Has it already been determined that Swoopes won't play QB next season?

I don't think Locksley beats out Heard if he signs. I do think he could sit on the bench for a season or so and be there if Heard sustains injury or leaves early. I think you give him every chance to win the job if he signs but Heard, IMO, will be the guy going forward but he will also be a Red Shirt Soph and could decide to jump to the NFL early if he sees success. Would be good to have Locksley there if that happened.

UT is very well positioned.
TAMU going SEC is probably going to look like a mistake in a decade because even with top10 recruiting classes the battle on the field will be very uphill.

UT really has little Big 12 comp as far as finances, name recognition, facilities or location.

OU has been falling off in recruiting which is kinda strange but rectifiable if they get back to hitting California hard.
